North Haledon School District
Fall Newsletter
Message from the Superintendent
Dear North Haledon Families,
The first few months of school have been wonderful as our students and staff are back in the swing of things! We are excited to share the following updates for you regarding our district initiatives.
As we are guided by our Strategic Plan, a major focus for the district this year will be academic learning opportunities. Students in K-5 are using a new English Language Arts program that is closely aligned to the principles of the science of reading. This approach focuses on phonics, vocabulary, comprehension and reading fluency. Our Math curriculum has been updated with the most recent New Jersey Student Learning Standards. Other academic areas continue to be assessed to ensure that our students are receiving the best academic opportunities. In addition, the district will continue to focus on providing enrichment opportunities both during the school day and through extracurricular activities to support student learning.
We are excited to be participating in the Governor's Educator of the Year Award once again this year. We look forward to celebrating our educators and the work they do everyday for the children of North Haledon!
The winter snowy season is quickly approaching. Please know that decisions to delay or close school for inclement weather take many factors into consideration, with the safety of staff and students being the top priority. Decisions to delay or close schools will be sent with as much advance notice as possible via the school email blast system, text message and phone call. It will also be posted on the district Instagram page.
On behalf of the administration and staff from North Haledon Schools, we wish you a wonderful Thanksgiving and we are looking forward to a great winter season! As always, thank you for your support of our schools.
Sincerely,
Stephanie Bonaparte

GOOD NEWS IN OUR SCHOOLS
Message from the North Haledon Board of Education
The North Haledon Board of Education is grateful to our community for acknowledging the importance and value of providing for the highest levels of school security. The passage of this question allows the school district to maintain this level of security for our students and staff while also creating a savings that will be put back into the education for our children. The Board of Education would like to thank Mayor Randy George, the North Haledon Council, North Haledon Police Department and North Haledon residents for collaborating with us and keeping school safety a priority in our community.
