Unlocking the Possibilities!!!
About 2 years ago I hired a life coach and began an amazing discernment process for my own personal and professional life. I have had an unbelievably successful career as a special education teacher and principal, and I am blessed to have a husband who has always encouraged me to follow my passions. As a teacher at heart, my soul needs to nurture, create, and serve. Under the direction of my own life coach, I was able to muster up the courage to shift my energy from managing a school to simply loving and serving families and educators on a smaller and more personal level.
In September of 2022 I started my own coaching and consulting business. I am proud to partner with Doors of Hope Counseling and now Dr. Pahini Ross, Board Certified Functional Medicine Practitioner. With a concentrated focus on family mental health and well being, I am excited to focus my energy to helping and supporting parents and educators; the two most important careers on the planet (in my humble opinion). After retiring from education in May of 2023, I am enthusiastically ready to coach, consult, and now author my own blog and newsletter. The sky is the limit! I can't wait to work together to Unlock all the Possibilities for your family and school!!!
With A Grateful Heart,

Skills for Success!
Each month in my newsletter I will focus on a different topic relevant to parents and educators. This month we are kicking things off with my absolute favorite topic when it comes to empowering kids - building strong executive functioning skills! Ever wish there were a proven how-to manual for parenting? I don't think there could ever be a complete manual on how to tackle every parenting topic. However, an intentional effort to focus on helping children and teens develop strong executive functioning skills (EFS) is a perfect place for parents and educators to center their time and energy.
Executive functions are mental skills that help you initiate and complete tasks. EFS skills are controlled by areas of the brain called the frontal lobe. Neuropsychologists have studied these skills for years and have determined them more essential to a person's ability than their actual IQ score. These skills are essential to our ability to manage relationships, daily tasks, school, and career responsibilities.
Children are not born with these skills, but they do begin to acquire them as an infant. These skills must be fostered and attended to throughout childhood, adolescence and even into a person's adult life. Check out my blog for more information, helpful strategies and tips regarding executive functioning skills and child development.
