Loved Ones Invited to Eat Lunch With Their Children: Friday, November 22nd!
Dear FVES Families,
We are so excited to host our Annual VIP Lunch at French Valley Elementary! What a wonderful opportunity for students and their loved ones to eat lunch together during their lunchtime (see schedule below)! After eating lunch, you are welcome to go to the Book Fair with your child to browse and/or purchase books in the MPR.
Some items to help you plan for this special day:
1. Parents are encouraged to bring a special lunch for their child and chairs or blankets to sit on.
2. Parents are encouraged to arrive at least 10 minutes prior to their student’s lunch time to allow time to check in.
3. Parents will check in and receive a VIP sticker from the front office.
4. Parents will follow signs to locate their child.
5. Once parents locate their child they can proceed to the blacktop or field to sit and enjoy their lunch.
6. After you eat with your child, you may visit our Book Fair.
7. When your child's end of lunch bell rings, we ask that your child go directly to their line up area and that you exit campus leaving through the front office.
*If you are planning to purchase food from a local restaurant you need to plan to get it early. The restaurants will be very busy as many others will be purchasing food.
*Parents who opt to buy a school lunch on this day, please bring $6.00 exact change as the elementary school kitchens do not provide change.
For liability reasons, we ask that parents do not take part in recess play activities.

Early Check Out Please Help Us!
Dear French Valley Parents/Guardians,
I am sharing this with you because early checkouts have become a concern at FVES. On a light day, we may have 10-15 students checked out early, and on a heavier day (Fridays), we can have up to 30-50 students checked out early(15 -60 minutes early)!
Why do we discourage Early Check Out?
Instructional/Learning Disruptions: When we call a classroom for a student, the teacher often needs to stop the learning activity or direct instruction for the entire class to help the student get packed up and communicate what assignment the student may need to complete at home. In many cases, younger students also need an adult to escort them to the office. This adult is often pulled from supporting other students to help escort the child.
Academic Impact: Missing class time can negatively impact a student's learning and academic performance. Students are often checked out 30 minutes to an hour early, but even short absences(10 minutes early check out) can result in missed instruction, which can be challenging to make up, potentially affecting the student’s grades and understanding of the material.
Routine and Structure: Schools aim to provide a structured and consistent environment for students. Regular attendance is crucial for maintaining a routine that supports learning and development. Frequent early check outs can disrupt a student’s sense of stability and routine.
Social and Emotional Impact: Leaving school early can affect a student's social interactions and emotional well-being. They might miss important social activities, fun activities, peer interactions, or special events that are integral to their school experience. When students miss instruction or can’t complete an assignment due to an early check-out, they may become anxious and even disheartened.
Front Office Impact: Our front office staff accomplish a multitude of tasks each day to ensure that our school runs smoothly. At times, our office staff can be pulled away from these essential tasks for up to an hour at the end of the school day with early check outs.
What can you do to help us?
Please do your best to schedule all appointments and family activities after the school day. We understand that sparingly it may be necessary to schedule an appointment during the school day. We especially request that early check out does not occur during the last 30 minutes of the day, as students often miss valuable instruction, engaging activities, information, and last-minute details.
Thank you for your cooperation!
VISITORS: FRIDAY FLAG SALUTE ASSEMBLIES
Friday Flag Salute Assemblies begin at 8:55 a.m. every Friday. If your child is being recognized at Friday Flag Salute, you will receive an invitation to attend Friday Flag from your child's Teacher.
Visitors should arrive no later than 8:45am and enter through the front office. All visitors will be asked to sign in and be given a flag sticker as they enter the office. Please ensure that you wear the sticker at all times while on our campus. Our Flag Salute Assembly includes school announcements and special recognitions of students that last approximately 15 minutes. Once the assembly is over, please exit through the front office.
PHOTO ID REQUIRED
This is a friendly reminder that parents/guardians must show an official photo ID when visiting, volunteering, or checking out their child early from the front office.
VOLUNTEERS: ALL YOU NEED TO KNOW
To help ensure the safety of our students and staff and to protect our highly regarded instructional programs, TVUSD has identified an application and clearance process for community members that wish to volunteer.
If your child's teacher communicates a need for volunteers, the link below provides information regarding requirements of Volunteers.
ATTENDANCE MATTERS!
Dear FVES Parents/Guardians,
As we embark upon the 24/25 school year, we wanted to take a moment to touch base regarding school attendance.
Our goal is to ensure that your child's absences do not have a negative impact on their learning and school adult/peer relationships. Regular attendance is instrumental in fostering an environment that maximizes opportunities for success in their academic journey.
If your child has missed 10 or more days during LAST SCHOOL YEAR, please know that re-establishing a pattern of consistent attendance is particularly crucial as we move into the 24/25 school year. Attending school provides your student with a valuable chance to:
Cultivate routines that alleviate stress.
Foster connections with peers and educators.
Actively participate in the learning process.
Regular attendance significantly correlates with enhanced reading proficiency by third grade, success in Middle School, and graduation from High School. Collaborating with you is pivotal in enhancing your child's attendance, ensuring their continued engagement and learning progress.
Should you have any questions or require assistance in improving your child's attendance, please feel free to contact any site administrator via email or phone call.
Sincerely,
Mr. Cole

UNIVERSAL MEALS: Breakfast and Lunch
Beginning in 22/23, California became the first state to implement a statewide Universal Meals Program for school children.
What does this mean?
All children are offered a breakfast AND a lunch every school day for FREE!
What about meal applications? All eligible families should still complete a meal application! Applications help our District's budget and may also help provide discounted internet access and transportation fees, academic enrichment programs, fee waivers for college applications and AP tests, as well as secure funding/resources for teachers! Also, in order to receive
P-EBT you must have a meal application on file!
Does FVES serve breakfast?
Yes, breakfast is served during their morning recess break.
Where can I see the breakfast and lunch Menu?
