Dear Jag Families,

What an awesome week we have had getting into the groove of the 2020-2021 online school year. Thank you for the support during our first virtual Open House Thursday evening.

Please consider becoming a volunteer with PTO as we have many opportunities for each of you to assist our staff and students.

Learning Model Selection Process (September 3-8)

To be completed in SKYWARD-Family Access

A critical step in this planning is determining how many families plan to send their students to campuses for face-to-face instruction, or, as an alternative, will select 100 percent online instruction. This information will be used as Fort Bend ISD campuses and departments implement all health and safety protocols, develop student and teacher schedules, and plan toward the phased transition to face-to-face instruction.

During the Learning Model Selection Process from September 3 – 8, parents will choose the student learning model that best meets their needs. As part of the process, parents will also acknowledge receipt of the Student Code of Conduct and the Student Parent Handbook. Learning model selection will close on September 8 at 4:30 p.m. to allow time for student schedule development.

Note: Any student who does not have a selection form completed will default to face-to-face learning for planning purposes. As per TEA guidance, parents may elect to change student learning models a minimum of two weeks prior to each grading period.

Ren 360 Extended to September 11, 2020

Due to the percentage of students who have yet to engage in taking the Ren 360 assessments, the assessment window has been extended until September 11th.

In order to support your child on this assessment, you will need to:

Use the Parent/Guardian Ren 360 Checklist
Have your student follow the Student Login Instructions
Complete the required assessments until September 11th.
If at any time the program prompts your child to enter a monitor password to continue the assessment, please enter FBISD in all capitals

Sartartia Middle School Facilities

Just a reminder, the Fine Arts Building, both our gyms, and our track are currently construction zones. While we cannot wait to use them, they are not open for use until all construction concludes, which will hopefully be soon! Our facilities are beginning to look great after a much needed renovation. Thank you for your help in this matter.

Hello amazing Jag families!

I am Melannie Boullion, your new Sartartia librarian! I am SO EXCITED to be part of this AMAZING community!! Each week I will have optional virtual library activities available through the Schoology library course. We will announce these activities in a weekly library programming graphic here in your newsletter. Participation is encouraged, but not mandatory.

Students—I will also have opportunities for you to be entered in a weekly drawing for a free book! You will need to search the folders in the library Schoology course to discover how! SMS LIBRARY WEEKLY PROGRAMMING

Would You Like to Checkout a Library Book?

Curbside checkout will begin this week! Please fill out the form by clicking on the link or scanning the QR code if you would like to participate. Please reserve books by Wednesday, 9/9. Book pick up day is Friday, 9/11 from 12-4 pm. When you arrive on Friday to pick your books up, please pull up to the front of the school and wait in your vehicle. Bikers can also wait in the front of the building. Please do not get out of your vehicles, and be prepared to show an ID (either parent’s or student’s). You will then sign for the books. Books can be checked out up to three weeks. Directions for reserving books in the library online catalog (Destiny) are on the library Schoology page and the Sartartia website (under library & media).

Campus-Based Device Distribution - Update

The last day of regular Laptop Distribution ended on Friday, August 28th. We will continue to issue laptops as needed throughout the school year by appointment only by calling our main school number. (281) 634-6310.

Ø Technology Resource Help

The Technology Resource page on https://www.fortbendisd.com/Page/124794 is available for parents/students to obtain help related to technology. There are helpful information on hot topics like password, 1Link, Microsoft Teams etc. You will also find the “Technology Status” section where we post the latest status of technology issues we are aware of.

Ø Password help for 6th-8th graders:

6th Grade: Passwords for all incoming 6th graders or brand-new students in any secondary grade 6-12th their passwords are FORTBENDSCHOOL+Last 4 of StudentID#. Example: FORTBENDSCHOOL0852.

7th – 12th Grade: All returning 7th and 8th students should continue to use their password they used last year. If they have don’t remember it the will need to reset it in Rapid Identity portal, https://my.fortbendisd.com/. They will need to login with network credentials.

IT Service Depot Updates

In order to serve the ongoing needs of FBISD students and staff, IT is expanding the support days and hours for the IT Service Depots. We have also added two more locations on the west side of the district to better serve the families and staff on that side of town.

The intent of the Service Depot is to provide IT Services for hardware related issues with district-issued devices. Most services will be managed by appointment by the Site Analysts and should not require customers to remain on-site for any measurable amount of time.
