CAASPP Testing Information (3rd, 4th, and 5th graders)
Every spring, our Heroes in 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade take the California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress (CAASPP). Additionally, our 5th graders will take the California Science Test (CAST). This year, we will be encouraging our Heroes to keep calm and trust the force during our state testing. Click the button below for information on how families can help their learners test like a Jedi Master! Students will be bringing home a flyer with more information on this in the coming weeks.
โ Attendance
What if my student has to be out of school for an extended period of time?
If your child must go out of town for one to fifteen days, you may request that your child is signed up for an Short-Term Independent Study Agreement. By enrolling in Short-Term Independent Study, and your student has the work completed upon return, your child would be marked present for those days they were gone.
What is Chronic Absenteeism and why is it important?
Students are considered chronically absent when they miss 10 percent or more of school for any reason. Left unaddressed, chronic absence can translate into students having difficulty learning to read by Grade 3, reaching grade-level standards in middle school, and graduating from high school.
California Education Code (EC) Section 60901(c)(1) defines it as โa pupil who is absent on 10 percent or more of the school days in the school year when the total number of days a pupil is absent is divided by the total number of days the pupil is enrolled and school was actually taught in the regular day schools of the district, exclusive of Saturdays and Sundays.โ
