Mrs. Kenney, in partnership with the AEA, brought virtual reality career exploration to our high school. Students were able to take a break from study hall to immerse themselves in a variety of virtual career experiences. From nursing and welding to electrical work and truck driving, there was something for everyone. Even our adult community got to test their VR skills. The event was so popular that it returned for another week of virtual career adventures!

Home basketball and wrestling will be live and on demand with HUDL this November. We are still taking on sponsors for winter sports. Contact Jay Lutt if you are interested.

Substitute teachers play a vital role at Westwood. They jump into different roles as teachers to continue instruction and student support when a regular contracted teacher is away.

Interested in being a substitute teacher? The state has two pathways toward becoming a substitute teacher: substitute license and substitute authorization. For a substitute license, individuals who have held or are eligible to hold a full teaching license in Iowa can apply for a substitute license, which allows the teacher to substitute in any PK-12 subject or grade level, including long-term subbing.

Our substitute payment starts at $160 per day!

As we head into the winter months, we've already seen a dusting of snow, and more is on the way. To ensure your children stay warm and comfortable during the school day, please send them dressed in layers.
