Happy winter break! We've got two weeks off, and I hope you and your family get a chance to relax together. We will pick up where we left off on Monday, January 6.

Please note an important change to our attendance process. To enhance our focus on student safety, automated attendance calls through Remind will now begin at 9:30am instead of 10:30am. To avoid receiving a call, please report your child's absence to the school before 9:30am.

Winter break is just around the corner, and the PTA would like to share some of the events coming in January. More information on all these events will be shared in the new year:

• Winter Recycling Drive: Save those hard-to-recycle items over break and plan to bring them to the drive on January 8.

• Clothing Drive: In case you’re doing some sorting over break, hold on to any clothes size 4T to adult that are in good condition for our clothing drive coming January 13-17. Donations go to the PPS Clothing Closet, where students across the district can access free clothing.

• PTA Meeting: Save the date, January 13, 5:30-7:30pm, for our next PTA General Meeting. We will be voting on the ball wall proposal, and a new proposal to donate money to Harriet Tubman Middle School PTSA will be presented.

• Read-A-Thon: The third annual Read-A-Thon is back January 21-31. Start hyping up your readers to log those minutes!

The January lunch helper calendar is now live! Please consider volunteering for a slot in early January so that our wonderful kitchen staff have plenty of support as we come back from the holidays.

If you've never served lunch before, you'll have to be a PPS-approved volunteer first. Please contact Betsy at bihuigens@gmail.com with any questions.
