November 2022
Staff Spotlight: Ms. Shepherd
I am a Goshen kid through and through. As a kid I attended Parkside Elementary (GO PANTHERS!), and I graduated from Goshen High School in 2013. In high school, I played softball and was in the choir as well as Crimsonaires. My favorite teacher growing up in Goshen was Mr. J.D. Russell who gave me my love for American History. I attended Indiana University South Bend and in 2017 got to fulfill my goal of becoming a teacher.
I got the job at Goshen Junior High teaching 8th grade History, which I taught for 5 years. While teaching, I also coached girls basketball under Shaun Hill as an assistant coach giving three years at the high school and two years at junior high level. I also have coached Unified Flag Football the past two seasons with Joel Kratzer, which has given me so much joy and another fun challenge in coaching.
In October of 2021, I was given an opportutnty to work from the office as a TOSA (Teacher on Special Assignment). I help Mrs. Baker and Mrs. Herschberger with anything that needs to be done in the office. I have enjoyed getting to have some quality conversations with students while still making an impact on thier lives.
I absolutely LOVE sports and could talk for hours about football, baseball, and basketball. I am often at high school sporting events, and I take the book for our junior high school boys basketball home games.
I also enjoy traveling and being with family and friends. I recently took a trip to Disney over Fall Break in October where I was reminded of the joy of being a kid!
Being a small part of Goshen Junior High gives me an opportunity to feel like I am giving back to the community that gave so much to me.
