American Charter Chats

Students in Mrs. Skiff’s art class learned about gratitude this month. They made Thank You cards for Veterans Day and decorated their classroom turkey with their “grateful feathers”.

Mrs. Voigt’s class enjoyed recess after the first snow! Look at those smiles. At American Charter Academy we ‘Work Hard & Play Hard’ and believe in outdoor experiences! Thank you, Mrs. Voigt for supervising your students during recess! Thank you families, for ensuring students have proper clothes for playing outside: hats, boots, gloves, snowpants, and winter coats!

In Mr. Johnson's Language Arts 6 class, students are diving into their book report on Wonder, a touching story about a boy with a facial difference learning to fit in at school. As they work on their reports, they’re practicing typing skills and exploring important storytelling elements like theme, plot, and character development. They're also adding personal reflections to share what the story means to them. It’s a great opportunity for students to build writing skills while exploring themes of empathy and kindness.

For Veterans Day, our middle school students engaged in meaningful projects to honor the brave individuals who have served in our armed forces. Each student researched a veteran—many choosing a family member—and created a personalized graphic art piece. These heartfelt creations were compiled into a video presentation showcased during our Veterans Day Assembly.

Additionally, the Digital Media STEM elective students took their skills to the next level by crafting unique projects honoring veterans using digital creative technologies. These projects highlighted the dedication and sacrifices of veterans while allowing students to explore innovation, design photography, and the art of interviewing.

Student Maddie Crum stated, “I realized that I wanted to make the poster perfect because that's what the veterans deserved.” Brody Clarke added, “ I realized how hard it must be to be in the army; I am proud of my dad for his ways.”

Students had fun making origami pumpkins in one of our after school Quest Clubs. Thank you Mrs. Brouse.

Primary Prep students are enjoying their after school Quest Club! Thank you, Mrs. Maynard and Mrs. Kerkove for providing an opportunity for students to play board games.
