Message from Superintendent Clevenger:
Greetings Bonsall Unified families!
The Purple Star Award from the State of California recognizes schools that provide outstanding support to military-connected students and families. Of the over 10,000 schools in California, only 43 have been selected for this honor.
All five Bonsall Unified School District schools have been identified as Purple Star Award-winning schools.
- Bonsall West Elementary School
- Bonsall Elementary School
- Vivian Banks Charter School
- Sullivan Middle School
- Bonsall High School
Each school will be recognized in a ceremony on Thursday, April 4th at 5:30 p.m. at Bonsall West Elementary School. You are cordially invited. We will have guests from the Bonsall and Oceanside Communities, the California Department of Education, the San Diego County Office of Education, and many military branches.
Please RSVP by Monday, April 1, 2024, using the link in the graphic or by clicking here: RSVP for Purple Star Event

Helmets are required so please be sure that those on the bikes are correctly wearing helmets. Parents/Guardians, it is still being witnessed that older students are riding their e-bikes with younger students on them who are not wearing helmets. COVID Test Kits
Bonsall Unified School District has supplied two COVID test kits per student for our site. If you would like you, the parent or guardian, may pick them up at Bonsall West Elementary. These COVID tests are provided to you as a courtesy. Testing is not required by our district.
Although we are excited to have your child attend school every day, when your child is sick, we do ask you to keep him or her at home. Specifically, if your child has tested positive for COVID, he or she should remain at home for five (5) days from the onset of symptoms or positive COVID test (if asymptomatic). Your child may return on Day 6, unless he or she remains sick. Masking upon return to school is not required by the District.
We wish you great health as we know the cold and flu season approaches, and encourage you to place special attention to taking practical steps to boost your student’s immune system by providing nutritious food, proper amounts of sleep, and good doses of exercise.
