Summit Learning - Finishing up incomplete Summit courses

ABLE - Credit recovery, opportunity for seniors to graduate


  • May 25th - June 18th
  • Tuesdays - Fridays
  • 9:00AM- 2:30PM
  • Breakfast: 8:45AM - 9:00AM
    Lunch: 11:30AM - 12:00PM
  • Seniors who graduate will receive a bell-ringing ceremony and have the opportunity to take a picture in a cap and gown.

A Reflection on the 2020-2021 School Year in LEAD After-School


  • LEAD After-School Classes end May 14th


We are near the end of one of the most challenging years in school (and world) history, and yet our regular day school avoided additional shut downs; and our after-school program was one of the few in the country that maintained in-person programming. And what a difference that made. Students grew in so many ways in their after-school classes, whether it was learning how to brave the ropes course, learn how to build a structure (sauna) from scratch, or renovate an iconic school sculpture with their own vision.


We appreciate all of the support parents have provided by allowing their students to attend after-school classes, even long after mask fatigue set in! Most important of all, several students graduated as a result of the opportunity that after-school provided. Our seniors are not only making it across the finish line, but are doing so as leaders who made a lasting impression on their classmates and the school.

Construction

Students work together to build a sauna from scratch. Students were given specific jobs and responsibilities in order to create the structure in ten weeks!

Mindful Movement

Students found peace and inspiration in nature for their Mindful Movement class in an April field trip...sort of. They were supposed to paint on the Butte, but a snow storm forced them to find a place in the forest below the Butte and took on the challenge of snow, paint, and wind!

Public Art

This face sculpture was created in 1996, plastered with the imprint of Burchell student faces. Originally, the continents of the world were painted over the faces to show harmony and unity. The problem, besides the outdated colors, was the fact much of the sculpture's space was taken up by bubbled plaster. The Public Art class carved out the extra plaster, painted over original colors, and sanded the sculpture to prepare for the final paint design that is currently in process.
