Welcome Back!
Welcome back to school! Mr. Zlupko and I truly hope that each of our students and families had a safe and enjoyable summer! We look forward to welcoming back all our K-5 students on Tuesday, September 3, 2024!
For the safety of our students, students are not permitted on school grounds unaccompanied before 8:00 a.m.
Please take a moment to review our Elementary Student/Parent Handbook and visit our school website for more Back to School information!
School Day
The first day of school for students in Kindergarten - 5th Grade will be on Tuesday, September 3rd.
Our doors will open at 8:00 a.m. for students. For the safety of our students, students are not permitted on school grounds unaccompanied before 8:00 a.m.
SCHOOL DAY
Kindergarten through Grade 5: 8:25 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. Students arriving after 8:30 a.m. will be marked late. If your child is late to school, you must sign them in at the main office.
Breakfast will be served between 8:00 a.m. - 8:25 a.m.
Attendance
Punctuality and regular attendance are essential skills that children need to learn at an early age to prepare for lifelong career opportunities. Demonstrate to your children that school is important by supporting the effort to have your child(ren) arrive on time each school day. Consistent attendance and punctuality are critical to each child’s maximum learning experience.
If your child(ren) will be absent from school, please email Elementaryattendance@mv.org with your child's name, grade, and reason for being absent.
Please see our Attendance Letter attached below.
Breakfast/Lunch and Snack
Breakfast and lunch will be free for all students. Students are required to know and enter their student ID number when receiving breakfast or lunch. We have purchased break-away lanyards that will hold your child's lunch card. These lanyards will remain in your child's classroom.
We ask that you work with your child on memorizing their student ID number. We appreciate your assistance!
Beginning in October, snacks will also be sold during lunch. If you are sending snack money in for your child, we ask that you send money in an envelope with your child's name, grade and amount of money.

*Please note that menus are subject to change.
For more information about our school meal program, please visit our Dining Services website.
Snack:
Elementary students will have a nutritional snack time in their classroom each day. Each individual classroom teacher will determine the snack time. If you wish for your child to take part in the nutritional snack time, students are responsible for bringing in their own healthy snack to school each day as it will not be provided by the school. Sweets, such as donuts, cookies, and other snacks high in sugar are discouraged. Consider the following foods as acceptable for snack:
Fruits
Vegetables
Crackers
Cheese
Hard-boiled egg
Fruit snacks
Pretzels
Yogurt
Dry cereal
Granola bars
Summer Reading
All Summer Reading projects for students in grades 1-5 are due on Friday, September 13th. Please review our Summer Reading expectations by clicking here.
School Forms
We ask that you review and complete the following forms that were either mailed in your welcome letter or will be sent home with students in their first day folder:
- Emergency Cards (one for the office and one for the nurse)
- Arrival/Dismissal Form
- Handbook/Media Release Form
- Walking Permission Form
Dismissal Procedures
During the first few days of school, dismissal tends to take a little long, as our staff are familiarizing themselves with families and their vehicles. To ensure a safe and efficient dismissal for all, we will continue the use of dismissal placards this year.
All placards have been labeled with your child's last name and grade and will be sent home on the first day of school. We ask that you place your dismissal placard on the passenger side car visor if you are picking your child up in the car line and bring the dismissal placard with you if you are picking up your child from the walker door.
Please review and follow our dismissal procedures. Your cooperation helps decrease a lengthy dismissal process and ensures the safety of all.
If you are walking on foot to pick up your child, your child is considered a "walker". Please pick your child up at the side cafeteria door at Grandview Elementary and the Morrisville Intermediate School Lobby door at Morrisville Intermediate School.
If you are waiting in our single line car line or your child rides one of the after school vans (YMCA, We Care, Discovery or New Horizons), your child is considered a "car rider".
Please stay in your car and follow the car line. School staff at Grandview Elementary will accompany your child to your car, open the car door and will assist your child in entering your car. School staff at Morrisville Intermediate School will guide students to your car in our single car line.
IMPORTANT: To change your child’s normal dismissal procedure, you must write a note or call the school office prior to 2:00 p.m. We cannot accept verbal notice from a student - dismissal via the usual mode of transportation will hold precedence.
Elementary School-wide Positive Behavior Supports (SWPBS)
Our mission is to foster and promote a safe and positive school environment that enhances student learning and overall success through teaching and acknowledging positive behavior.
In our schools, our students and staff follow B.A.R.K.:
Be Safe
Always Doing My Best
Respecting Myself and Others
Kindness
We believe that a good behavior policy has a set of standards and expectations which promotes appropriate behavior, and which focuses on teaching children self-control, responsibility, and respect for others. Children who do not meet these standards and expectations will be addressed in a dignified manner. Consequences for inappropriate behavior will be logical and timely. An effort will be made to reinforce students who demonstrate positive behavior.
Take a few moments to review our School-wide Positive Behavior Supports Handbook linked here.
