Greetings Gators!
It was great to see so many of our Caregivers at Open House! I hope you all enjoyed the chance to see the spaces and meet your student's teachers and get a glimpse into the learning they are undergoing this year! A huge thanks to our staff, particularly our custodial staff that worked hard in the two short hours after dismissal to make sure our school looked its best for everyone!
What are some of the awesome things did our Gators do last week?
Our amazing English Language teacher, Hannah Barden, sharing her expertise during in-service to better help us all serve ALL our students.
5th-grade news anchors to a classroom video sharing their learning.
Jason Reynolds Zoom and our 7/8 kids talking about activism for social change
Spanish students working to write stories.
Debates in ⅞ Humanities around resource sharing (aka brownies)
A “volcano” erupting in our school yard thanks to our team of ⅞ science teachers, Mr. Humke and Mrs. Kendall and head custodian, Mickey Brkic, helping support the process.
Busy playgrounds with students taking advantage of the beautiful fall weather.
Amazing artwork in our ELA “Lift A Line” Projects in the main lobby bulletin board
Innovating kids creating cool Pinball3000 designs with our awesome substitute Ben helping us out.
Proud problem solvers working to complete a puzzle.
6th-grade Scientists considering the moon phases and season changes
Treehouse designers and builders (Grades 7 & 8) working diligently on their creations during SST. Exploring tools and materials and using mathematical language to discuss their designs.
A lot of smiles throughout our in-service day on Friday..we're lucky to have a staff that loves working at MSMS!
Go Gators!

8th Grade Trip Survey!
Hola y bonjour, 8th grade students and caregivers!
We are once again considering offering an educational and cultural experience in Canada for ALL 8th graders the first week of June 2023. This program is organized through the Montreal-based organization, Jumpstreet, and has become a capstone event of students’ middle school experience.
However, much has changed for our community in the last three years. As such, we would like to gauge interest in a travel experience before proceeding. Please fill out this SURVEY outlining your interest in a trip and what you are able to contribute to tuition. We are committed to ensuring that all students who want to participate can do so. This information will inform us as to what type of travel experience you are interested in, and how much fundraising we will need to do. We look forward to hearing from you! Ashley Dubois and Bibba Kahn.
From Nurse Caitlin
Please make sure you have completed each of your student’s annual health questionnaires. Here is an extra copy in case you have misplaced yours. You can also email or call Nurse Caitlin for a paper form. They can be turned into your student’s TA and they will turn them into the school nurse. These forms need to be on file for students to participate in field trips. Thank you!

Curricular Spotlight!
This week: Orchestra with Hilary Goldblatt
Students in the MSMS Orchestra classes are working on a variety of concert music selections as well as learning new scales, fiddle tunes, and rhythms. Ask them to share their music-making with you! Practice at home on a regular basis will reinforce their learning in school and help them achieve success on their instrument.
