- On Thursday, we will celebrate World Down Syndrome Day by wearing fun socks!
Down Syndrome is caused when 21st chromosome triples. World Down Syndrome is celebrated on the 21st day of the 3rd month to represent the three 21 chromosomes. On World Down Syndrome day, people wear fun socks to show Down Syndrome awareness. Why socks? When chromosomes are looked at under a microscope they look like a pair of socks.

Our Curriculum!
The SC classes use an adapted curriculum called enCore! There are a total of 36 units, and those units are banded by grade levels. All of our classes have multiple grade levels. Due to this, some classes might use two units simultaneously. For example, a class might use a unit for kindergarten through second and a different unit for grades third through fifth. Each unit consist of an adapted fiction book and an adapted nonfiction book. It takes six weeks to complete one full unit with three weeks per book.
