Lake Bluff Elementary School Family Newsletter
Hello Lake Bluff Families,
Thank you to all of our visitors this week that remembered their identification as we rolled out our new Raptor System. As a reminder, visitors check in the front office with their identification and receive a badge. Upon departure, visitors return the badge to the front office so they can be signed out. We appreciate everyone's cooperation in ensuring student safety.
Kind Regards,
Johanna French, Interim Principal
Urban Ecology Center (UEC)
Did you know that Lake Bluff has a contract with UEC so that all of our classes can go on field trips there? This wonderful learning experience is made possible through a generous grant from the PTO that covers half the cost of the entire program. UEC is a great opportunity for all students to experience nature and discover it as a learning environment. All of the trips are connected to our academic standards and provide authentic hands-on learning experiences. Here are a few more benefits of going to UEC:
-Opportunities for mindfulness and team building,
-Allows students to discover learning environments outside of the traditional classroom.
-Students developing an appreciation for their local community and realize that the UEC is a free resource available to everyone.

Thank you PTO for your constant and consistent support.

Meet our Staff
Every week we will try to showcase some important people that you may not know who contribute to the success of Lake Bluff.
Justin Calvert
Mr. Calvert is one of Shorewood's Recreation Program Manager. He has been at Shorewood for 9 years. He got into the field because of his love of sports and recreation and the positive impact it made on his life. He loves planning activities where kids can make connections and he loves watching the students grow up. He says he is fortunate that the Recreation Department at Shorewood is a place where everyone shares responsibilities and really looks to better the life of people through recreation.
Mr. Calvert's Fun Fact: Mr. Calvert is a twin. Although not identical, you may have trouble telling them apart. They both even have careers in sports & recreation!

Shorewood Softball
Registration for the 2025 SLL Softball season is officially OPEN! To register, go to ShorewoodLittleLeague.com and click on the Registration tab to get started.
Our program is open to girls who are currently in grades 3 through 8. Families who register more than one player (including in SLL baseball) receive a discount.
Practices will begin at the start of May, with games running through June and July. We encourage beginners as well as athletes who are active in other sports to participate in this summer program. We are planning on a fun and competitive season where girls get to play with their friends while making new ones. Games and practices will mostly take place in Shorewood.
If you have any questions about registration or the program, please let us know.

2. Pitching Clinic, on April 6, 13, 27 and May 4.
