Northview HS Newsletter
September 3 , 2024 Volume 2, Number 2
Northview Familia,
Welcome to the third week of our school year -- We're off to a great start! Our counselors are still hard at work making sure to balance class sizes. Our PTSA will host their first meeting on Wednesday, September 4, 2024 at 5:30pm in the Northview Library, which will be followed by our Freshmen Parent Meeting. We hope to see you there!
Our athletics program is in full swing! Make sure to watch our student-athletes compete in volleyball, flag football, girls tennis, cross country, and football.
I wanted to take the opportunity to remind everyone of the importance of having good attendance. It is important that your child is in school every single day so that they don't miss out on learning opportunities and the many great things that go on at Northview. Remember, students can miss one day every 25 days and still have Excellent Attendance. We will resume our attendance incentives program for the month of September. Stay tuned for details.
Have a great week, Vikings!

Bringing Back the Back-to-School Buzz
As we kick off the new school year, it’s a great time for all of us—students, staff, and families—to hit refresh and bring some excitement into our routines. Remember the thrill of a new school year? Even if we’re not all students, we can still capture that energy. Here are some easy ways to do just that:
Get Organized with Meal Prep: Whether you're packing lunch for school or work, prepping meals ahead of time can save you stress and keep you eating healthy throughout the week. Spend some time preparing a variety of foods that you can mix and match throughout the week for easy, healthy meals.
Refresh Your Wardrobe: Just like back-to-school shopping, take a moment to clean out your closet and keep only what makes you feel good. It’s a great way to start the year feeling confident.
Read More: Whether you’re tackling school assignments or diving into a new book for fun. Reconnect with the joy of learning by diving into that fall reading list. Try reading in the morning to start your day on a positive note.
Stay on Top of Tasks: If you love making lists, keep it simple! Keep tasks simple and actionable by following the two-minute rule: if it takes less than two minutes, do it immediately. It’s a great way to stay organized without feeling overwhelmed.
Make Time for Fun: Don’t forget to play! Whether it’s picking up an old hobby, playing a game, enjoying time with friends, or just enjoying small moments, find ways to add play to your daily routine.
Connect with New People: Building friendships takes effort, but it’s worth it. Don’t be afraid to reach out and make new connections—it’s all part of the back-to-school experience! It might feel awkward, but remember that friendships grow from vulnerability.
Let’s use these tips to bring a fresh and positive vibe to the new school year. Here’s to a great year ahead for all of us!

AVID Future Ready
The first step is for seniors to fill out the FAFSA (US and Eligible Citizens) or Dream Act application( non US-Citizens)! These applications are scheduled to be available sometime in December 2024. In the meantime, it is imperative that the parent and the student start gathering all the materials needed to create an FSA ID (students will receive this form in English class) It might take some time for the FSA ID to process successfully, getting this done ahead of time will prevent any delays in completing the application later in December when it becomes available.
All seniors will begin this process on campus, it is crucial for the parent/guardian to follow-up and make sure students are getting the necessary information. Stay tuned for FSA ID creation workshops coming soon! For any questions or concerns contact our counseling staff, Mrs. Worley or Mrs. Corona (AVID Coordinator).

Staff Spotlight
School is back in session, which means we have many new faces to introduce here at the View. We would like to introduce Mrs. Monica Gamboa. She is our new Special Education teacher. She brings with her a wealth of knowledge and patience as she enters her 20th year in education.
Mrs. Gamboa has 3 children, ages 25, 16, and 13. She thoroughly enjoys watching her kids participate in sports and watching them be team players. She is an avid Dodger fan who enjoys attending their games. In her downtime she enjoys puzzles, crafting, baking, and watching reality TV (who can blame her).
We are thrilled to welcome Mrs. Gamboa to our campus and watch her students succeed! Thank you and we have no doubt you have the Grit and Gold!
