Weekly Parent Update
June 8th, 2025
Saint Bridget School: a Catholic community that encourages a love of God, respect for all, and academic excellence.
Principal's Notes
Come, Holy Spirit! Today, we celebrate Pentecost Sunday, one of the most powerful and joyful moments in our Church’s calendar. This feast marks the descent of the Holy Spirit upon the Apostles, filling them with courage and clarity to proclaim the Good News. Often called the “birthday of the Church,” Pentecost reminds us that we belong to a living, Spirit-led community.
As a Catholic school, we strive each day to help our students recognize the presence of the Holy Spirit in their lives. We encourage them to act with love, speak with kindness, and stand up for what is right. May this celebration renew our hearts and inspire us all to carry Christ’s light into the world.
A Season of Gratitude and Growth
As the school year draws to a close, we find ourselves in a bittersweet season. For teachers and staff, this time brings a quiet reflection. Throughout the year, we have formed deep bonds with our students—not just academically, but personally, as they’ve grown into more confident, compassionate, and capable young individuals.
Yes, summer promises rest and renewal, but there is also a tender sadness in saying goodbye. We send our students forward with pride, deep gratitude, and a touch of sorrow, knowing we’ve been part of a profound chapter in their lives.
To all our school families: thank you. Thank you for your trust, your support, and the privilege of partnering with you in your child’s journey. It is an honor we cherish.
Celebrating Our 8th Grade Graduates
Congratulations to our amazing 8th grade graduates who celebrated their Commencement this past Thursday night! We are immensely proud of each student and all they have accomplished.
On Wednesday evening, our students came together for the joyful 8th Grade Dinner Dance—a night of laughter, memories, and celebration of the friendships and growth formed over their years at SBS.
As a lasting gift to the school, the Class of 2025 generously donated a beautiful birdbath and an engraved stone that reads: “Happy Memories Made Here”.
This gift will enhance the area around the Blessed Mother and serve as a touching reminder of the legacy they leave behind. May the strong academic and spiritual foundation they’ve built here carry them into high school and beyond, guided always by faith and purpose.
Wrapping Up the Year
As I send out the final Weekly Update of the school year, my heart is full of gratitude. It has been a joy to share moments of learning, growth, and celebration with our students and families.
Before we fully step into summer, I invite you to visit our Saint Bridget School Facebook page, where you’ll find highlights of the many special moments that define life at SBS.
Thank you again for a remarkable year. May your summer be restful, joyful, and filled with God’s blessings.
All my best,
Matthew Collins
Principal

A Bittersweet Farewell to Miss Paula
On Thursday, we had a special day at SBS as we celebrated someone incredibly dear to our community — Miss Paula, our beloved school secretary, who is retiring this summer.
Students, and staff came together to honor her with:
- Heartfelt cards
- Thoughtful gifts
- Plenty of hugs and happy tears
To say she’s special to us is truly an understatement. Miss Paula has been the heart of our front office — always greeting everyone with kindness, care, and her unmistakable warmth.
While we’re going to miss her more than words can say, we’re so excited for her as she steps into this next chapter. We hope she fills retirement with joy, rest, and lots of visits back to SBS.
Congratulations, Miss Paula! We love you!
Faith Formation - Weekly Aspirations
A Year of Growth, A Life of Purpose
Ephesians 2:10 “For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.”
As we end our school year, remember that God has a unique purpose for your life. Your experiences and growth this year are part of His plan.
MAP Testing Results and Summer IXL!
This week, we will be sending home your child’s MAP (Measures of Academic Progress) scores for the school year. The MAP test is a computer-based assessment that measures academic growth in reading, math, and language. It’s adaptive—meaning the questions change in difficulty based on your child’s answers—offering a personalized snapshot of what your child knows and what they’re ready to learn next.
Your child’s performance is reported using a RIT score (Rasch Unit), which reflects academic level and growth rather than grade level. The most important thing to note is how the RIT score changes over time—especially from fall to spring—as it’s meant to track individual progress. Every child grows at their own pace, and MAP results help us tailor instruction accordingly. If a student needs additional support or greater challenge, their MAP scores help guide those decisions.
If you have any questions about your child’s MAP results, please feel free to contact me at drousseau@stbridgetschool.us to arrange a phone call.
📚 Summer Learning Support with IXL
To keep our students engaged and prevent the summer slide in math, we are encouraging all students in grades 3–8 to use IXL for 30 minutes per week during the summer. IXL offers personalized skill plans that reinforce key concepts and help students stay sharp over the break.
If your child has trouble logging in or needs adjustments to their IXL plan, I am available to assist. I’ll also be checking student accounts throughout the summer to monitor progress and offer support as needed.
Let’s work together to keep the momentum going and help our students return in the fall ready to thrive!
