Brahma Briefing
Week 13 - November 2 - 6, 2020
Welcome to Week 13!
Hello Brahma Parents & Guardians,
Welcome to Week 13, November 2 - 6, 2020.
Our 12-Week Grading Period ended on Friday, October 30, and teachers are submitting their grades this week. The 12-Week progress report is an unofficial grade report and will not appear on your child's transcript. The 12-Week Grades will be available in Aeries on Wednesday, November 4.
The month of October was a full month! We had amazing virtual performances in Drama, Choir, and Dance (Thanks Mr. Kaitz, Mr. Langham, and Mrs. Simonson!) and USB has been active (Thanks Mrs. Van Horn!) with student activities, virtual Homecoming Courts and Brahma Bundles! We also welcomed Small Cohorts to campus for WiFi connection, Student-Athletes began conditioning after school, and we have Performing Arts coming in November.
On top of all this, we have continued social unrest in our country, fires burning in Southern California, it's election week, and all while our lives continue to be impacted by COVID. Our teachers are doing a tremendous job and we are so grateful for their dedication, sacrifice and expertise to teach during this challenging time. Our teachers are heroes in one of the most challenging times in the history of public education.
The highlight for closing out October was our Halloween "Spooktacular" Drive-thru Trunk or Treat. It took a team of WVUSD staff including Evergreen Elementary Principal Trina Dreyer and Castle Rock Principal Jennifer Alcazar, DBHS Dean Gabriel Aguilar and Operations Manager Mike Bromberg to coordinate our community event. Special thanks to DBHS Graduates Audrey Chu and Kallista Tantiga who raised of $4000, coordinated over 20 corporate sponsors and collected over 30,000 pieces of candy, toys and gifts to share with our community for free! Click HERE to see some highlights!
November is sure to be as exciting! We have important Wellness Wednesday activities on thankfulness and gratitude, anti-tobacco education for students, and continued focus on social emotional learning. We begin our virtual Mock Trial competition, and celebrate Thanksgiving! We also have Make-up Yearbook Picture Day on Friday, November 6. These are special times and I am glad that we are in this together!
Best Regards,

This week, an additional 130+ student-athletes in 6 sport programs will also be joining. We are working with LA County to ensure your child's safe return so we do appreciate all of your support.
