Robinwood Families,
We are thrilled to have our school psychologist, Abigail (Abby) Koldeway, as a part of the learning community here at Robinwood. Some of our goals at Robinwood involve strengthening student social-emotional skills to help promote a safe and healthy classroom environment that in turn positively impacts our academic skills. Given this, we wanted to start a monthly social-emotional learning (SEL) corner so that families have the same access to some of the language and skills that we are working on as a school community.
This month’s social-emotional learning (SEL) topic is Self-Regulation.
Self-regulation is the ability to appropriately display our emotions through using our words and actions/behaviors while also being able to appropriately adjust our emotions to different situations. Students at Robinwood have been learning self-regulation skills through the ZONES of Regulation. You may hear your student say “I’m in the green zone” or “I’m in the red zone.” This is the language they are learning from this resource. Please help us reinforce this language by using it at home when talking with your student about how their day was. Ask them what zone they were in and why. As the year goes on, students will be learning strategies they can use to get their brain and body ready for “learning and working” at school when they may be experiencing strong emotions (e.g., feelings that are in the red, yellow, or blue zones).
Additional Parent Resources are below:
Looking forward to another great week!

LOST & FOUND
Please click here to see pictures of the items in our lost and found. We will be purging lost and found items more often so it’s important for children to keep close tabs on their belongings. It is also suggested that if possible, student items be labeled with the first and last name on it so that we can get it back to the student if it becomes lost. All items not picked up after 2 weeks will be donated.
On Wednesday, October 16th, we held our 2nd of 3 Community Referendum Information Sessions being offered in October. TMJ4 s Mariam Mackar interviewed FPS District Administrator Annalee Bennin about the projects at FHS that the referendum would address. They held a live shot on the 6pm news and featured Franklin Public Schools in a 2-minute story on the 10pm news -- the 10pm news story is on their website here, but both the 6pm & 10pm clips are included in this video below.

3-WEEK SABER PRE-SCHOOL BY FHS CHILD II DEVELOPMENT IN DEC
The Franklin High School Child Development II students will be sponsoring “Saber Pre-school” for children ages 3 to 5 on various days in December.
Saber Pre-school is designed for children ages 3 to 5 who are toilet trained and ready to experience a supportive and enriching pre-school environment. The student teachers prepare daily lesson plans that not only provide opportunities for the Little Sabers to develop socially, but also to enhance their kindergarten readiness skills. The Saber Pre-school program offers a truly excellent experience for both our big and small students.
Class time will be from 9:00 to 10:15 am and tuition is $20 to cover the cost of materials and snacks for the entire 3 weeks. Saber Pre-school will include story time, large and small group activities, free time, songs and other fun activities. Pre-registration is required. Registration closes when we hit 25 participants or by Friday, November 15th at the latest. If you know someone who has a child ages 3-5, please help us by sharing this message to them!

FHS FALL PLAY: “ALMOST, MAINE” 11/14-11/17
The FHS Fall Play is fast approaching with shows taking place Thurs 11/14 through Sun 11/17. For tickets and show information, please visit the Saber Center website here.
Show Description: Welcome to Almost, Maine, a place that’s so far north, it’s almost not in the United States. It’s almost in Canada. And it’s not quite a town, because its residents never got around to getting organized. So it almost doesn’t exist. One cold, clear, winter night, as the northern lights hover in the star-filled sky above, the residents of Almost, Maine, find themselves falling in and out of love in unexpected and hilarious ways. Knees are bruised. Hearts are broken. But the bruises heal, and the hearts mend—almost—in this delightful midwinter night’s dream.
K-5TH WINTER/SPRING CHESS EARLY REGISTRATION - BEGINS MID-DECEMBER
