Dear Parent/Guardian:

Texas Education Code (§38.003) mandates that all first grade students be screened for dyslexia and related disorders no later than January 31, 2024. The screening is designed to ensure that all students are appropriately screened, and if necessary, are evaluated further so that reading difficulties will be addressed in a timely manner. The results from the screening will be used to guide instruction at the classroom level, shared with you, and used to determine if additional interventions are required for your student.

Thank you for your efforts in supporting our school! This fundraiser profited $27, 661! This money goes toward enriching the campus environment for students and teachers in ways such as student incentives, staff awards, instructional supplies and resources, field trips, and family involvement activities. As part of the superintendent search process, the Board of Trustees is committed to gathering the input of staff, parents, and community members to help inform the profile of the next leader of Burnet CISD. To that end, the Board of Trustees invites parents and community members to attend a superintendent search input session so that you can share the qualifications and characteristics that you believe to be the most important for the next superintendent to possess. Both of the input sessions will be facilitated by Dr. Sherri Bays, the superintendent search consultant. Dr. Bays will compile the feedback and report back to the Board of Trustees. Please see the times and locations listed below.

• Tuesday, December 5, starting at 6:00-7:00 p.m.
• Burnet CISD Board Room (Located at 208 East Brier in Burnet)

Superintendent Search Parent/Community Input Session #2

• Thursday, December 7, starting at 6:00-7:00 p.m.
• Bertram Elementary (Located at 315 Main Street in Bertram)

In addition to the in-person input sessions, the Board of Trustees will also be releasing an online superintendent search input survey. The link to the survey will be sent out on Friday, December 1. All parents and community members are encouraged to complete the survey by the close of the survey on Friday, December 22.

A student earns the Red Cape when he/she scores the most monthly growth points in either reading or math in the entire grade level!

SGE completed a lockout drill on Friday, Dec. 12th. During a lockout, everyone comes indoors, exterior doors remain locked, and business inside the building continues as usual. Lockout is called when there is a threat or hazard outside of the school building, whether violence in a nearby neighborhood or a dangerous animal on the playground.

SGE's ADA for this past week was 94.4%.

ADA stands for Average Daily Attendance and is defined as the total days of student attendance divided by the total days of instruction. "98 IS Great!", so 98% is our goal!

Remind your kiddos that students who have no more than 1 absence or 1 tardy for the 3rd six-weeks will earn a snowball fight and S'mores snack!

An important piece in the family-school partnership is staying aware of student performance. It is requested that parents view and electronically sign progress reports and report cards. See the directions below, and be sure to get those signatures in! In addition, parents are encouraged to regularly view grades in Skyward.

Submit an email on the same day as the transportation change request by 1:30 p.m. to sge-transportation@burnetcisd.net

Include the following details in the email:

• Student’s full name
• Student’s grade level
• Student’s homeroom teacher
• The transportation change you want made for today (bus rider to car rider or car rider to bus rider)

Requests made after 1:30pm will not be processed. Notes, phone calls, text messages and emails sent to any other email will not be processed.
