Saturday, November 14 – REGION 25 UIL MARCHING CONTEST

GOING FOR 30 YEARS IN A ROW 1st DIVISION RATINGS

TICKET PRICE: $10 Adult/ $5 ISD Student (Pre-school age children are free)

8:00AM Band Hall opens

9:30AM Rehearsal/Run Through in Bibbers with Shako

10:30AM Load Trailers/ Snack

11:00AM Inspection and load buses

11:45AM Depart WHS

You may drive or ride with a parent

If you need a ride, there will be buses available at reduced capacity

12:00PM Arrive

12:30PM Warm Up

1:19PM Performance

1:40PM Load & Depart

ALL students will go back to WHS to put uniform away & unload equipment.

Marching Band is the only UIL activity that has a state championship...every other year. On odd years it is 1A, 3A, 5A Divisions, and on even years (this year) it is 2A, 4A, 6A Divisions (we are a 6A High School). The University Interscholastic League (UIL) has not cancelled the State Championships. Therefore, should we choose not to participate in the advancing contests, the next opportunity to advance to state would be 2022.

Below are some details about the Area and State Championship Contests for you to look over. There is a survey at the bottom. PARENTS, I need to know your thoughts on this before any decisions are made.

Mr. Dixon

All bands who make a 1st division at the Region level are eligible to advance to the UIL Area Marching Contest. This is typically an all day event; however, things are different this year. Below are the details of the Area Contest and what our participation would look like should we proceed with that direction.

• Date: Saturday, December 5
• Location: Mesquite Memorial Stadium
• Contest Type: Same as UIL Region level. One performance, NO PRELIMS & FINALS.
• This would run with the same schedule and routine as the UIL Region Contest listed above.
• Transportation and contact would be the same. No contact with any other group.
• Perform and go home.
• Top 4 would advance to the State Championships

The top 4 from Area C (estimate) would advance to the State Marching Championships. The State Marching Championships is usually a 2 day Prelims/Finals event. This year would be different, and work almost the same as the Area Marching Contest.

• Date: December 15
• Location: Alamodome
• Contest Type: Same as UIL Region & Area level. One performance, NO PRELIMS & FINALS.
• We would have Charter Buses available for transportation at a reduced capacity. We normally travel with 7 charter buses and can expand that up to 14 if needed.
• Charters will have a sign up with students in their "social bubble".
• Parents who do not want their child traveling on a charter bus are encouraged to take their child to the State Championship performance.
• The plan is to perform and return in the same day.
• Should overnight accommodations be needed, it would be 2 (instead of 4) to a room.
