Buffalo High School Bison Bulletin
April/May 2024
A letter from the Principal
Dear Buffalo High School Community,
As we approach the end of another academic year, I would like to take this opportunity to extend my gratitude to each and every member of our wonderful Buffalo High School community. It has been an honor and a pleasure to work alongside such dedicated students, supportive parents, and exceptional staff members throughout the year.
With the last day of school falling on May 8th, I want to inform you that this will be the final newsletter for the academic year. This newsletter is a little longer to encompass several important pieces of information to share, particularly for our graduating seniors.
First and foremost, mark your calendars! Graduation is scheduled to take place on May 10th at 7:00 p.m. in the BHS Fieldhouse. This momentous occasion will celebrate the achievements and successes of our graduating seniors as they embark on the next chapter of their lives.
For our seniors, their last day at Buffalo High School will be on May 7th. This day will be filled with memorable events, including the senior breakfast, checkout procedures, graduation practice, and the annual Parade of Champions. It will be a day filled with anticipation, reflection, and excitement for the journey ahead.
Looking back on this year, I am proud to say that we have accomplished many remarkable projects and initiatives together. From academic achievements to extracurricular successes, our students have truly excelled. As we wrap up this academic year, I am excited for the many opportunities that await us in the coming year.
Once again, I extend my heartfelt appreciation to each member of the Buffalo High School community for your unwavering support, dedication, and enthusiasm throughout the year. Together, we have created a vibrant and inclusive learning environment that fosters growth, excellence, and success.
Wishing you all a great end to the school year, and a restful and rejuvenating summer break.
Mr. Jackson

- The cost for each regular game is $2 for students and $4 for adults. Pre-K and under students and seniors (65 and older) are free.
- Middle school students must be accompanied by an adult in order to enter the stadium.
- Once students enter the stadium, they cannot leave. Students who exit the stadium will not be allowed to return.
- Skateboards, personal sporting equipment, and pets (with the exception of service animals) are not permitted in the stadium.
- We must follow MSHSAA rules and guidelines at all contests.
- We encourage everyone to be loud as they cheer on the Bison to victory! We can be loud and support the team while also being respectful. Good sportsmanship is required at all Buffalo High School events.

Join us in welcoming Dr. O'Quinn to DCR-1! Welcome, Dr. O'Quinn!
The Dallas County R-I School district is pleased to announce the hire of Dr. Laura O’Quinn as the Deputy Superintendent for the 2024-2025 school year. The purpose of the Deputy position is to enable them to work alongside Dr. Tim Ryan for at least one year prior to his upcoming retirement. For DCR1 this will be the best method to ensure the upward trajectory continues long into the future. Dr. Ryan stated, “Laura. O’Quinn has an amazing skill set and is certainly ready to step into the Superintendent role. We are confident in her ability to keep our Dallas County Schools moving in a positive direction for many years to come”.
Dr. Laura O’Quinn has been serving as the Assistant Superintendent in the Lebanon School District for the past 6 years. O’Quinn, who has 21 years in education, began her career as a kindergarten teacher in the Camdenton School District. She went on to serve as an assistant principal at Dogwood Elementary in Camdenton and an elementary principal in the Marshfield School District. She has been in the Lebanon School District since 2018.
“I am grateful for the opportunity to join the Dallas County School District and look forward to building lasting relationships with staff, students, and the community.” shared Dr. O’Quinn. “I am committed to ensuring continued improvement of the District and am eager to build upon the remarkable progress achieved under Dr. Ryan and the Board of Education's leadership."
O’Quinn obtained a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Drury University, a master’s degree in educational administration from Southwest Baptist University, a specialist’s degree in educational administration from William Woods University, and a doctorate of education in educational leadership from Lindenwood University.
O’Quinn is married to her husband, Jared, who is also a school administrator and together they have three children Jayce, Jordan, and Harper.
BHS Dress Code
Tardy Policy
Students will be allowed two (2) tardies before disciplinary action takes place. Upon
receiving their 3rd tardy, the student will receive a discipline referral and will be given an
after school detention. A 4th tardy will result in one (1) day of ISS. A 5th tardy will result
in three (3) days of ISS. Tardies in excess of four (4) will be referred to the principal for
insubordination. We have added music to our bell system this year. A song plays 15 seconds before each tardy bell rings. This seems to be having a positive effect on student tardiness.
