Message From Onondaga Road School Principal
Dear Onondaga Road Families,
What a wonderful week we’ve had! I’m so excited to share some of the amazing things happening in our school community. Each grade level has been involved in something special, and I’ve tried to capture a little piece of it for you.
Our PTA hosted the first School Store of the year, and it was a big hit! Many happy shoppers were able to take home some fun items, thanks to our amazing parent volunteers.
We’re also preparing for an exciting event next Friday, October 11 – First Responders Day! Officer Charlie has worked hard to organize a visit from several local agencies. Students will have the chance to learn about the important work our first responders do to keep us safe. To make the day even sweeter, the PTA has partnered with Glazed and Confused Donuts to provide each student with a donut. So, don’t be alarmed if you see emergency vehicles at school next Friday – it’s all part of the fun!
I’d also like to give a big shout-out to our students for doing such a great job during this week’s safety drills. With the mild weather, we’ll be completing the remaining required drills in the coming days.
Thank you for your continued support and partnership. I hope you all have a restful and enjoyable weekend!
Respectfully,
Michelle Collier

Kindergarten
Our kindergarteners went on an adventure to find living and non-living objects. They walked quietly so that they could spot serval squirrels and they used magnifying glasses to get a close-up look at some insects in the grass.
Grade 1
Morning Announcements took place in a few of the First Grade classrooms. They do a great job leading the Pledge of Allegiance for the building.
Grade 2
Second graders were working hard on some measurement. They made estimates and then checked the actual measurement with centimeter rulers. They were working hard in their math centers as well.
Grade 3
Grade 3 is working on place value concepts in math. A small-group setting has provided opportunities for students to collaborate and to share their math thinking with each other.
Grade 4
Grade 4 created Wampum Belt designs and wrote a paragraph to explain the different symbols used in the design. Officer Charlie started to have our Safety Patrol help out with dismissal.
