Message from Mr. Burns
Hi Wims Families,
I hope you had a wonderful weekend so far. This week we still hope to have our Spelling Bee on Wednesday for our Grade 3-5 students. If there are any changes due to projected winter weather on Wednesday, we will work with our PTA to reschedule.
This week I will be out of the building attending professional development. Please don't hesitate to reach out to Mr. Prin if there is anything you need from our administrative team:)

Kids Heart Challenge- Update
As you may know by now, we have reached our $11,000 goal and I will be sleeping on the roof! Congratulations on an excellent job. There is one week left in the challenge, and we still have one goal left to reach. We need about 25 more students to sign up so we can get $500 for brand new recess equipment! If you haven't signed up yet, please use the link below to help us get that new equipment! Signing up is completely free and your child will get a cool Kids Heart Challenge wristband. Once the challenge is over, I will send in the school’s order for all the gifts earned and then they will be shipped out. Once I get them, the final gifts will be handed out in PE class. Have a great weekend!
Read Across America Week
Classroom teachers are looking for volunteers to read one book of your choice to their class. Most classroom teachers have chosen to have one or two readers every day from Monday, March 3- Friday, March 7, 2025. Find your child's teacher in this Google doc and click on the link to go to their schedule. Remember, third, fourth, and fifth grade students have one teacher in the morning and a different teacher in the afternoon. If you have questions about the schedule, please contact your child's teacher. You're welcome to bring a picture book from home or borrow one from the public library or Wims library. If you have questions about a book, please contact Mrs. Hall, our media specialist.

From the PTA Board
Dear Wildcats,
We hope you enjoyed the long weekend as well as a fun Friday Valentine’s Day last week!
The PTA is looking forward to hosting our annual WWES Spelling Bee this Wednesday. Enrolled students in grades 3 - 5 have been studying the word list for the past 4 weeks and we can’t wait to see how they do. If your student is participating in the bee, the schedule has been sent to you by email. Please contact us right away if you have not received it.
Registration has closed for the S.T.E.A.M. Expo and our committee are hard at work planning a fantastic evening. Save the date for Friday, March 14 - you don’t want to miss these amazing demonstrations. And your Wildcat just might be inspired to sign up next year!
The PTA Nominating Committee is now accepting nominations for the roles of PTA President and Vice President. Please read on to find out how to submit a nomination.
Finally, don’t forget about the Yearbook Cover Contest! We are short on entries so far this year. Student cover art is an important part of the yearbook, so please encourage your students to try! Details on how to enter are shared below.
You can pre-order your 2024-25 Wilson Wims yearbook by using this link (Wims Yearbook ID is 14701525). Yearbooks are distributed in the final week of the school year.
Have a wonderful week!

NOMINATIONS FOR 2025-27 EXECUTIVE BOARD: DUE MARCH 28
The WWES PTA Nominating Committee is now accepting nominations for the role of President and Vice President for the 2025-26 and 2026-27 school years (each position is a 2-year term). Serving on the Executive Board is a wonderful way to connect with our Administration, staff, students, and parent community. The current and past board(s) are extremely proud of the PTA that we have built and it's time to turn over the reins to a new parent! If you know of someone you think would be a great fit to continue our wonderful work on the PTA, please complete this nomination form no later than March 28. Self-nominations are welcome and encouraged. The PTA is a very important part of our school culture, and our students look forward to the events we sponsor throughout the year. We need dedicated individuals who are willing to continue this work. Thank you for being willing to serve your school community!
