Today is School Day #7
It's day 7 and we have completed our first full week. As stated in my phone call on Thursday, parents can no longer be on campus before school. Please say your goodbyes in the morning and your students will now walk to breakfast/reading club/morning walk on their own. Anyone that is entering campus for any reason must check into the office first and get a visitor badge. Thank you for helping us keep our students and staff safe.
On Fridays, we wear GREEN & our families can do Morning Walk with Us
Please consider joining your students for morning walk every Friday from 8:40-8:55. Here's an extra challenge: Wear Green!!! GO BEAVERS!!!
SAY CHEESE!!! TUESDAY, 9/3
Picture Day is Tuesday, September 3rd! Yes, the day after Labor Day. Please plan ahead. Your student should have brought home picture day flyers. We will also have some in the office.
In Search of 2 Parents.....
We all know how important the arts are for our students and right now, our students are getting art instruction one day per week from a specialist. This is why our art docent program is so important.
We need 1.......yes, just 1 parent to be our art docent lead. All this means is that you help other parents to access the online art lessons so that they can teach art as volunteers in the classroom. Please contact kobrien@sanjuan.edu if you are even the slightest bit interested.
Our superintendent is also looking for parents to serve on the Parent Advisory Committee (SPAC).
More info about the committee below.
SPAC serves as a platform for fostering two-way communication between parents and the central office staff. It also provides an invaluable opportunity for parents to engage with the superintendent and discuss matters of districtwide significance and then report back to their school community.

As we begin to prepare for the first day of school in August, San Juan Unified School District encourages families to complete the Annual Student Information Update as soon as possible.
The Annual Student Information Update asks families to update emergency contact information, complete the school funding form, get the 2024-25 family handbook and review demographic information to help schools prepare for the new school year.
Visit sanjuan.edu/parentportal to complete the Annual Student Information Update by Aug. 31. Watch a video tutorial available in multiple languages at sanjuan.edu/tutorial.

OLD NEWS, BUT WORTH REFERRING TO AND REMEMBERING
Classroom Donation
We will not be asking families to purchase supplies for their classroom. Instead, we request a 50.00 donation from each family to cover any extra supplies needed, including field trips. You might get an optional list from your classroom teacher. This is NOT required. We do recognize that some of your students may want to come with a few thing of their own like earbuds, fun pencils/pens/pouches, etc...We also know that our families love to donate tissue and other regular needed items.
If you want to make your donation before the Meet and Greet, you can! You can split it into (2) 25.00 payments, or do the entire 50.00 at once. Check out our flyer.
