HES Grade 1 Releases Classroom Tadpoles Raised to Fish Back into the Ocean! Fintastic!

First Grade Life Cycle Play ... A Tradition Continues to Delight!

HES FIELD DAY : TUESDAY, JUNE 11, RAIN DATE IS THURSDAY, JUNE 13

Field Day is this coming Tuesday, June 11, with a rain date of Thursday, June 13.


  • Students wear a grade level color shirt
  • Send a water bottle with your child's name written on it.
  • Volunteers and parents park at the Cultural Center (old middle school) off of Sisson Road
  • BBQ Cookout lunch for all, send a bag lunch with your child if they prefer a lunch from home.

This week, third grade students visited the Army Corps of Engineers Cape Cod Canal Visitor Center to learn about the canal's history, geography, and current use. Students continued to "Exercise the Right to Read" with a walk down the canal before heading home.

In cooperation with Cape Cod Light Compact and retired Harwich Elementary School teachers, two fourth grade classes presented energy themed stations to the school as part of the Energy Carnival.

Greek Mythology

From Mrs.Jorgensen and Mrs. Idman : "Grade four children researched Greek Mythology in the library and in class. Then, in art, brainstormed and created , working in teams to create a Greek Mythological god or creature!"
