Please see the information below for the month of January from our school counselor, Mrs. LaCosta
January – The SEL theme of the month is Kindness. School wide we will be focusing on Kindness, community, and compassion. To help teach these character traits, we will be collecting unopened cereal box donations. At the end of the month, we will be setting up the cereal boxes like dominoes throughout the school to use as a presentation of how one act of kindness can spread like a ripple effect & create more acts of kindness. After the cereal kindness challenge has concluded, all cereal boxes will be donated to local food pantries. I have included a link here to a similar cereal kindness activity, for your reference. The week of 1/27-1/31 Franklin students can participate in an optional Kindness Challenge linked here. Additionally students can practice kindness at home by participating in the The Great Kindness Challenge. This checklist can be signed and turned into Mrs. LaCosta by February 3rd. Students are encouraged to complete 10 or more acts of Kindness. Finally, we will be hosting a school-wide spirit week 1/27-1/31. Please see the list of spirit days here.
Upcoming dates:
1/2-1/24 -- Cereal Box Collection for the “Kindness is a Domino Effect" Assembly
1/27-1/31 -- The Great Kindness Challenge & Spirit Week.

If your child has a food allergy or sensitivity and you would like an alternate menu, please contact Lorraine Kunick, Director of Nutrition for Maschio’s Food Services via email: lkunick@maschiofood.com. If your child comes to school without a packed lunch, we will assume it is okay for that student to have the daily menu option or the swap out item. You can find the lunch menu on the Franklin website.

Students can only bring food from the Approved Snacks list into their classrooms or instructional areas.
