Say YAY to PAJAMA DAY!!!
We are preparing for the 2nd Annual Pajama Day that benefits the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia! We will celebrate our generosity as a community on Friday, December 6th, 2024 with a Pajama Day! Last year we exceeded our goal of raising $1,000 for CHOP and we are hoping to do it AGAIN this year.
Students in NHS and Charity Club will be visiting advisories to collect any cash donations and give stickers students can wear on PJ Day to show off their generosity along with their cutest sleepwear!
Students, Families, and Staff can also donate electronically using the link below.
When Families/Students use the donation link Please ADD a Message that includes:
- Student Name (First & Last) (if not the "shown name")

*Good Luck to Marathon Runners!!!
We have an extremely large marathon group this year (Palumbo is about 40% of SRPS total marathon runners)! Many of our students have run over 500 miles since March of this year. They travel across the city early every Saturday morning to run 16, 18, 20 miles...
Here is a link for the Philadelphia Marathon. map: https://www.philadelphiamarathon.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/09/2024-aacr-philadelphia-marathon-092724.pdf
If you have the time to come out and cheer, our kids and Mr. Wiessmann will appreciate it!
*CONGRATULATIONS HONOR ROLL STUDENTS!!!
- We are extremely proud that almost 70% of our students achieved honor roll status on the 1st report card! We challenged the students to increase that number second quarter! Students are doing weekly grade checks so that they get into the habit of taking ownership of their grading and stay on top of turning in assignments on time.
- Many students missed the honor roll because of their Seminar (advisory) grade. Seminar is where students are made aware of school wide announcements, weekly grade checks are done, and team and relationship building activities are done. Seminar grades are based on attendance. Students earn .25 credit per year, which equals one full credit towards graduation over the course of four years. Please stress upon your student the importance of getting to school on time, as not to miss Seminar. The grading scale is posted below.
- The National Honor Society offers peer drop-in tutoring during advisory. Students can get 1:1 assistance from an NHS member. See the flyer below for details.
*NEW LEARNING IN BIOLOGY
Our Biology students are excited to engage with our new VR Prisms headsets to explore concepts and learn Biology in a different way. All of our Biology students will be using the headsets to reinforce key concepts taught in class. Check out the Prisms website to learn more.

The program offers a range of benefits, including:

Through engaging activities and meaningful discussions, youths get more in tune with their lived experiences while building stronger connections with the world around them. We welcome all youths to exert their voices, strengthen the community, and grow together in CYOP. Students can apply at https://bit.ly/CYOP2425.
*We are encouraging all parents and guardians to sign up for the Parent & Family Portal. This allows parents/guardians to have access to valuable information about your child's education. You can visit https://www.philasd.org/face/#parentportal to register. If you have any questions, please contact the Main Office.
