Thank each of you for being a member of Team BMS this year! Because of your commitment and dedication to our school, we finished the 2023-2024 school year strong!

We look forward to welcoming some of our Patriots back for the SEA Summer Learning experience, which begins on Monday, June 10th.

The Georgia Learning Resources System (GLRS), a statewide network of eighteen resource centers offering free services to parents and educators of students with disabilities, has recently published its 2023 Special Needs Directory. This Special Needs Summer Recreation and Respite Directory for Parents has been updated and posted to their website. This directory includes a plethora of contacts for summer offerings, including disability-specific camps, as well as contact information for providers

Striving for Excellence in Gifted Education Gwinnett Alliance for Gifted Education’s Summer Exploration Program (SEP) provides a wide variety of challenging and enriching classes using 21st century learning strategies for gifted and high achieving students. Each unit of study combines creativity, leadership, inquiry, critical thinking, and technology. Each lesson is designed to encourage students to discover, explore, and grow.

Last Friday was a night to remember as we danced the night away at our 8th Annual Dance Extravaganza! Thank you to everyone who came out and made it such an unforgettable evening.

Yesterday, our school community came together for an exciting PBIS End-of-Year Celebration, marking the culmination of a year filled with positive behaviors and outstanding achievements.

If your child needs summer learning, you should have already received a letter via ParentSquare. Here is the basic information that was sent home, in case you've misplaced it.

June 10 - June 28

The Summer Learning Support. Enrichment. Achievement (SEA) program is a free summer program that will offer extended learning opportunities to support the grade-level readiness of students who needs to meet promotional criteria through an engaging learning environment. Middle school students will attend from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. during the three-week session (June 10-June 28).

June 19 is a school holiday.

Transportation and meals (breakfast and lunch) are provided for children participating in the SEA program at no cost to families

Carnegie Credit Information-8th Grade Only

Students in Carnegie Unit Credit Courses have an opportunity to accept credit for high school courses. On May 10th, parents received a ParentSquare notification with the Carnegie Unit Credit Decision survey link.

Please check the email for the district and complete the survey before the deadline if you want your child to receive Carnegie Unit credit for approved courses.

Survey Dates: Friday, May 10- Friday, May 31, 2024

• Do you have a My Payments Plus account?
• Have you applied for Free and/or Reduced Lunch, if applicable?
• Do you know when and where your child can go to get additional instructional support?
• Do you know where you can check out materials/resources to use at home with your student?
• Do you know how to become a volunteer in our school?

If you answered no to any of these questions, please make an Appointment with Pilar Silva, our Parent Instructional Coordinator, in the BMS Parent Center.

We update the website frequently to Encourage growth, collaboration, and communication between Berkmar Middle School and the families we serve.

Just as important, you want an easy way to stay in touch with the school. The Updated Parent Portal gives parents access to grades, assignments, and communication with teachers. The Parent Portal gives families a direct line to the classroom, with 24/7 real-time information and anytime, anywhere access, with in-portal translation in multiple languages. And that's just the beginning.
