Big congrats to the 6th graders who presented their AMAZING books at Bluffsview, Slate Hill, and Brookside last week!
8th Graders also received a Chromebook upgrade this past week! With all of the high school construction, they needed to do it now rather than the beginning of the school year. So, make a plan for where they are going to store it over the summer. :)

Last Day of School
On Thursday, students will attend each class for a shortened time to say goodbye and wrap up the year. Here are a couple other fun things happening on this day!
- 8th Graders will have an 8th grade breakfast in the morning cooked by the teachers and paid for by our wonderful PTA.
- All grade levels will get to cheer on their peers in Student v. Staff Basketball games.
- Our Student Council has planned a fun Pep Rally, complete with teachers getting pied in the face.
- We will have Field Day for the last two hours, where students can choose between lots of fun activities, including sports, art, movies, and games.
- The PTA has also provided Ice Cream treats from Dairy Queen (Dairy and Dairy Free Options available)
- While we do not have the parking available for families to join us, our students will line the halls at the end of the day to clap out our 8th graders.
Students will be allowed to use cell phones in the last two hours of the day, as many like to take pictures of the fun. However, any student found to be recording or photographing others without their permission will be removed to the office for the remainder of Field Day.
I am sure this will be a wonderful day of fun and celebration of a successful school year!

SUMMER OPPORTUNITIES
DACC Summer Camps
This year's DACC Summer Camp will take place from June 3-5 on the main campus, running daily from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The camp is open to Worthington's rising 7th-9th graders. The cost is $40 per camper. They will be offering 11 exciting camps this year, covering a wide range of areas throughout our building. You can view the full list of camps here. We're excited about this selection because it provides something for everyone—students with diverse interests and passions!
These camps offer a fantastic opportunity for middle school students to gain new skills, make new friends, and experience the world of career-technical education within their own community. For many students, it will also be a valuable week of early career exploration, as they'll have the chance to learn from and collaborate with industry professionals and current DACC students.

Be Wiser Girl's Science Camp
There is still time for students to register for B-WISER Science Camp for middle school girls at The College of Wooster. Please share the attached flier with 7th and 8th grade STEM teachers and ask them to announce it to their students. Please also consider including the camp in your parent newsletter. The registration deadline is April 30.
Partnering with the Martha Holden Jennings Foundation, B-WISER camp provides hands-on experiences in physics, chemistry, geology, biology, and engineering. The non-profit residential program was founded in 1990 and takes place on The College of Wooster campus from June 16-21, 2025. We prioritize making this opportunity affordable to any interested young woman; financial aid recipients pay just $160 for the week, including room and board. Please see our website for more information: https://bwiser.spaces.wooster.edu/.

WYB's Summer Baseball Program
WYB wanted to make sure you were aware of a newly re-established opportunity for boys aged 13-15 interested in playing rec baseball this summer. WYB has not offered this league since 2018 so many may not be aware of it being available this summer. Games begin Saturday May 24th with practices the couple weeks prior, and the timing of the season pairs well with those playing middle school baseball. The hope is to get up to 4 teams, with loosely 1 per middle school.
This league will be paired with NCIL in Clintonville. Home games and practices will be at Perry or McCord with some away games at Whetstone Park.

Getting on Infinite Campus & Schoology
Infinite Campus, and especially the Parent App, is a great way to keep track of your student's grades. Instructions can be found here.
Schoology is a great place to look at the upcoming due dates for your student. You can always have your student sign on and take you through, or you can get Family Access. Instruction on how to do this can be found here.
School Lunch / Free & Reduced Fees Application
Worthington Schools offers breakfast and lunch to students. Pricing for meals will be based on family eligibility. New Meal Applications are required for families every school year. Families may find the online Free/Reduced Lunch Eligibility Form HERE. All students use their Lunch ID for meals. The student's number can be found in the Parent Portal by selecting the Student ID tab and then look for their student's Lunch PIN.
Families may add money to their lunch account through My Payments Plus. They may also use My Payments Plus to track their student's account and see much money remains on it. My Payments Plus is also used to pay other fees, like high school parking permits and AP testing fees.
Parent Technology Access
Starting Jan 3, 2025, the old www.worthington-portal.org site is no longer accessible. The items from the old portal are now available from your Infinite Campus portal in the “More” section in “Parent Access Links”. Here is a guide to help you navigate this change: Parent Access Link.

Ms. Rob's Ramblings
Spring is a time of so many celebrations! We have music concerts, field trips, incentive celebrations, and released State test scores. One that I am always excited to talk about are our English Language Learners. I am never not impressed by the resilience and bravery it takes to come to a school where you are not yet proficient with the language. Middle School is already often the hardest time for many kids. They don't feel good in their own skin, they struggle to treat other with kindness, and they have yet to discover what really makes them great. Now imagine adding on traversing the challenging social dynamics of adolescence while speaking a different language! And yet, they come each day and try! They try to learn middle school content AND English at the same time.
We had lots of growth in our OELPA (Ohio English Language Proficiency Assessment) scores this year and we had 9 students who are now officially English speakers! Congratulation to all of our English learners!!!
