President's Weekend
We hope you are enjoying President's Weekend. It is our last break until Easter in April. It looks and feels like winter out there right now, so I hope you were all able to take advantage of our days off. While there is not school, there are several activities happening. All of our sports are moving into Sections. We host a Section wrestling meet tonight. Our speech team is spending it's Saturdays using their skills. We are moving into a busy part of the winter season.
The cold weather is here. Please check that your students have appropriate clothing for the weather, especially if they are riding a bus (route or activity). Convincing teenagers of the importance of a coat can be a big job. Good Luck!
Midterm for Quarter 3 is Friday. Grades will be posted at 12:30 on Friday. The end of the quarter is only a month away. Please take a moment to use Infinite Campus to review grades with your child and see if they need any support. Please let us know - we are here to help!
Next week is National FFA week and our chapter is celebrating. We have dress up days listed below. We hope many students will take part in the festivities. Last week we had a great retreat with Humanity Launch. The message of the day was "You Matter!" The presenters used some shock statements to get the students' attention - and then explained in so many ways how important they are and how they don't have to do this crazy life alone.
Stay warm this week - Next week looks much better.
We want to thank New Vision Coop for stopping by today to donate $500 to our local FFA chapter. Three representatives came to present our advisor, Josh Johnson, and our FFA students a check which they will put to good use. We appreciate all the support that they give our program.
We want to send out a huge shout out to our middle/high school counselor, Sharyn Story! Last week was counselor appreciation week - and we have one of the great ones. She works with our students from everything from course planning, college application, mental health, "Story Time" with our middle school. She is also always there for a student who is having a hard day. She has a heart of gold and we are lucky to have her.
We also want to acknowledge our Greater MN counselor who works with our students. Ms. Mallory works with several students in both this building and the elementary. She is a great resource for our students and staff. Mallory has been an amazing addition for our school.
MPA Parents Meeting
February 19th at 6:00
We will be discussing the band/choir trip for 2026. We hope you can attend.
Humanity Launch
On Wednesday, February 12th, the Humanity Launch traveled to Adrian to remind each student that "You Matter." In the morning they worked with our high schoolers, teaching them how to be good communicators, finding their joy, and reaching their full potiential. A message of "you're not special" - which really means they need to realize that other people are going through things similar to them, so don't ever be afraid to reach out or feel alone in your struggle was another important part of the day. They talked about how we spend so much time worrying what other people are saying about us - but in reality, we are not on other people's mind nearly as much as we worry that we are.
In the afternoon, Gregg and Kim, along with over 20 leaders from our junior and senior classes worked with the middle schoolers on similar topics. Both groups also performed an amazing dance number that I hope to share in the near future.
Study Tables
We want to remind students and families about our study tables. Students can get homework/organizational help from a teacher almost any Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday for the remainder of the school year. Study tables is not held if it is the last day of the week.
If you notice your student falling behind or struggling, please encourage them to attend. If they can't stay the entire hour, we can make arrangements for that. This is a great opportunity for students to ask questions and get help. Teachers can check for missing work and help organize a plan to get back on track.
Flexible/E-Learning Days
With the onset of winter, we wanted to remind you of the process for Flexible/E-Learning days at the middle/high school. In the case of winter weather concerns or warnings, the school may choose to close the building, but hold a Flexible Learning Day instead. In these cases, students would be expected to log in sometime after 10:00 am to complete the assignments that are posted in Google Classroom for each class they would have that day. Attendance is determined by if a student logs on and completes the work. Students have a few days to make up assignments, but the preference would be for them to complete the activities as soon as possible so they can continue on with class.
We realized that there may be instances where a student does not have the devices available to them to complete this task. If that is the case, please feel free to call the office and leave a message, they are checked throughout the day. When we can forecast bad weather, we can make arrangements to send home Chromebooks with students who need them. Please contact the office, if you would like to make sure your child can check out a Chromebook.
Below you will see a link to our Flexible Learning Plan that is posted on the school webpage.
