Bulldog Bonding Boxes
Fun is Coming Your Way
We are implementing a program called “Bulldog Bonding Boxes.” Students in PreK-6th grades will receive one for the Thanksgiving break and one for the Spring break.
Sending home student and parent educational craft activities over the school break can serve several valuable purposes:
Strengthening Family Bonds: Craft activities provide an opportunity for quality time between parents and children. Working on a project together encourages communication, collaboration, and shared experiences.
Reinforcing Learning: Educational crafts can reinforce concepts learned in the classroom in a fun and engaging way. They offer a hands-on approach to learning that can help solidify understanding and retention.
Encouraging Creativity: Crafts allow students to express their creativity and problem-solving skills. By engaging in creative projects, students can explore their imagination and develop new skills.
Promoting Positive Habits: Establishing a routine of educational activities during breaks can foster a habit of learning and curiosity, even outside of school hours.
Supporting Parental Engagement: Providing structured activities helps parents feel more involved in their child's education. It gives them a clear way to support their child’s learning and development.
Creating Keepsakes: Crafts often result in tangible products that families can keep as memories. These keepsakes can remind families of their shared time together and the learning process.
Overall, these activities aim to make learning enjoyable and to bridge the gap between home and school, enhancing the educational experience for students while fostering stronger family connections.
You student will bring home this box for Thanksgiving break. Be on the look out! We trust that you and your student will create meaningful memories through these activities.

Building Student Success
Help Your Student Become Successful
The early school years are crucial for children's psychological growth, making them highly impressionable. As a parent, it's essential to be especially attentive during this time, addressing even minor concerns to keep your child connected to the family. Helping them in school work and reaching the success they aim for can be a great way to forge a bond with your child. It will not only help you to understand your child better and what is going on with him/her, but also, you can find ways to be successful together.
Below are 11 ways to help your child be more successful in school:
- Ensure that homework is getting done - It's essential to stay engaged with your children's schoolwork, no matter how busy life gets as a parent. Maintaining open communication with your child's teachers about assigned homework is crucial. Since the goal is to provide the best education for your child, collaborating with the teacher can be beneficial. Consistently completing homework is one of the many ways to support your child's success and create a positive impression at school.
- Support homework expectations - Establish a homework routine for your child, ensuring that their study area is quiet and free from distractions so they can concentrate on their assignments. Help them understand the importance of completing homework on time, and always be there to support them while encouraging them to take responsibility for their work. Additionally, remind them to feel confident when asking their teacher questions and seeking clarification on any topics they find challenging.
- Make time to discuss education - With younger students, it's often easy to talk about current events and school-related topics in the classroom. You're likely familiar with the books your child is reading and the math they’re working on. However, busy parents sometimes overlook asking fundamental questions, which can affect their child's academic performance. Therefore, regularly checking in with your child—regardless of their age—about what they are learning and the significance of studying is crucial for their educational success.
- Encourage active learning outside of school - Active learning is much more effective than just listening to lectures. Encourage your child to participate in interactive activities, hands-on projects, debates, and other creative pursuits. Provide resources like educational games and books, and take them to museums or planetariums to enrich their learning experience and make it enjoyable.
- Use new tools and technology - Thanks to technology's integration into education, there are now innovative ways to learn through movies, games, and various online resources. With most homes having internet access, families can explore and learn about anything they desire. It's beneficial for parents to guide their children in using educational websites and apps that focus on engaging learning activities. These modern tools make learning both easier and more enjoyable. If you lack resources for online learning, consider reaching out to your child's teacher for recommendations.
- Ensure your child arrives to school on time - Discipline is key to success, but your child may not recognize its importance. As a parent, it’s your role to instill this value in them. Start by emphasizing the significance of arriving at school on time, then gradually introduce other aspects of discipline as they develop.
- Practice self-respect and respect for others - Teaching respect for oneself and for others begins at home. While instilling good behavior in children can be challenging, it's essential to start somewhere. A great starting point is helping them understand the importance of respect, and that it can only be earned when they demonstrate it towards others. Self-respect is also a crucial quality to nurture because it fosters a positive self-image and confidence, allowing individuals to set healthy boundaries and make choices that align with their values. It also encourages resilience in the face of challenges, empowering people to navigate life's difficulties with dignity and grace.
- Reach out to teachers/schools - Schools and their staff are eager to support parents in achieving success for everyone involved. If you have any questions about your child's performance, don’t hesitate to consult their teacher. Pay attention to areas where your child may be struggling and seek guidance on how to help them improve. Additionally, if you sense that something is bothering your child, reach out to the teacher. If the teacher cannot provide the assistance you need, consider contacting an administrator for further support.
- Educate yourself and advocate for students - If you have concerns about your child's learning or behavior, reach out to the teacher or administrator for guidance. You might ask questions such as: What specific reading challenges is my child encountering? How can I assist my child in addressing these issues? What can I do to encourage my child to complete their homework? Which reading group is my child in? As a parent, it's also important to understand educational laws and procedures. Advocating for your child's best interests, as well as those of other students, is crucial for fostering a strong partnership between parents and schools.
- Join parent organization meetings - Make sure to attend parent organization meetings, as they provide important updates on school events and policies, information about your child's progress, and opportunities to connect with other parents and students. These meetings allow you to share ideas and suggestions while deepening your understanding of the school. Your presence demonstrates to the administration that you are invested in your child's education, which can encourage them to prioritize your involvement in the school community.
- Get involved - Engage in your child's school life by attending annual events, parent-teacher meetings, sports, and other programs. Your participation signals that you value their education and are there to support them. This not only boosts your child's confidence but also keeps you informed about their academic progress and any challenges they may face. Additionally, speaking with their teachers provides insight into how they are performing in class and how you can further assist them at home.
