Ahoy, Patriot Families!

September 11th and Civics Days
Arizona law HB2325, requires that each year on September 11, all public schools in Arizona dedicate a portion of the day to observe “9/11 Education Day.” Our teachers will be leading grade-appropriate activities to recognize the events of that day. Additionally, legislation also identifies Sept. 17 as Constitution Day (ARS 15-710) and Sept. 25 as Sandra Day O’Connor Civics Celebration Day (ARS 15-710.01). Please contact your child’s teacher if you would like to know more about the activities and resources for these days.

The PVSchools Fall 2024 Library Title List will be available for review for 60 days starting September 25 - November 30, 2024. Please see the following website to see titles that are being considered by Paradise Valley school libraries and provide feedback.

Nurse Sophia was recently notified of a case of Pertussis in Kindergarten. The Maricopa County Department of Health will be monitoring our school closely until at least September 19th. Any students with extreme coughing fits or a cough paired with a whooping sound will have to remain home until a doctor's note is provided which states they do not have pertussis OR the student has been on antibiotic therapy to treat pertussis for 5 days. Please do not send your child to school if they show any of the symptoms listed on the attached flyer.

SOCIAL WORKER NEWS
Hello Families,
I would like to begin these social chats with a focus on technology as the impact of technology use in children is taking center stage in multiple forums. Let me start off by acknowledging the complex time we live in. In many ways technology has drastically improved our lives. Technology has also led us to have many questions that are not easily answered. There are theories, ideas, research, etc. I encourage us to dive deeper into how technology is and will continue to impact our children in the coming weeks. We will include articles that will promote thought and discussion about children and technology.
