October, 2024
Husky Families,
What an incredible start to the school year we've had! As I walk through our bustling hallways and peek into classrooms filled with engaged learners, I'm reminded of how fortunate we are to have such a dedicated community of students, staff, and families.
We've already enjoyed some wonderful celebrations this year:
- SPS University: It was fantastic to welcome so many families to our school, giving you the opportunity to meet teachers, explore classrooms, and learn about community partners and programs.
- PTA Foam Party: A big thank you to our PTA and all the volunteers who made this event a roaring success! The kids had so much fun!
- Husky Hero Assemblies: We've recognized numerous students for exemplifying our PRIDE behaviors. These assemblies not only celebrate individual achievements but also inspire all our Huskies to strive for their personal best.
As we move deeper into fall, we have many exciting learning adventures and community events planned. I encourage you to stay connected through our school website, social media sites, and classroom newsletters to keep up with all the happenings at DHE.

Attendance Matters
We've noticed a concerning trend in our school attendance recently. It's important to remember that regular attendance directly impacts student learning and success. Every day counts! We understand that life can be busy, but it's crucial that students are at school on time and ready to learn. Missing even a few days can lead to gaps in understanding and affect your child's progress. When possible, please schedule appointments and vacations outside of school hours. If your child must be absent, communicate with their teacher to stay up-to-date on assignments. Attendance will continue to be a focus this year, and we're closely monitoring individual student attendance. Let's work together to ensure every child has the best opportunity to learn and grow. Thank you for your support in making attendance a priority!
Trunk or Treat Vehicles Needed!
We're calling on families and local businesses to join us for our Trunk or Treat event during Fall Fest on October 17th. Willing to decorate your car and hand out candy? Register AT THIS LINK.
- Arrival Time: Between 4:00 PM and 5:00 PM & Park in the DHE Bus Lane
- Be ready to start handing out candy at 5:00
Reminders
- Doors open at 7:40 AM. Students SHOULD NOT be left at school earlier than 7:40 as there is not staff outside to supervise them.
- If your child needs help with seat belts, please park and use the designated crosswalk for both arrival and dismissal. This helps maintain an efficient and safe car line.
- Always use the crosswalk when crossing the car line. This ensures your safety and sets a good example for students about the importance of crossing with a guard in areas protected from oncoming traffic.
