Upcoming Assessments: August 29th and 30th - MAP Testing (All School)
Dear Parents/Guardians:
It is time for the NWEA Measure of Academic Progress (MAP) to be administered. The MAP assessment gives us information about each student's instructional level in reading and math and also measures academic growth throughout the year. According to the developer of the MAP test, NWEA, this assessment, although not timed was designed to be completed in less than an hour and adapts to the level of performance of your child. Your child's teacher will be sharing the specific dates that the class will be taking each test. The test results will be shared with you in the form of a Student Progress Report prior to the end of the school year.
BMS Station students will take the Fall MAP assessment on
August 29th and August 30th during periods 1-3.
(Note: August 30th is a ½ day of student attendance)
As a reminder, here are actions parents can take to ensure a positive testing situation for their child:
Make sure your child attends school on testing day, unless s/he is ill.
Make sure your child gets a good night's sleep the night before testing.
Make sure your child eats a good breakfast on mornings of testing.
Make an effort to help your child feel relaxed and unrushed by allowing plenty of time
for daily routines.
Give your child words of encouragement to let him/her know you have confidence in
his/her ability to do his/her best.
Students will be using their iPads for this test. Please make sure they are fully charged and ready to go.
Although this test is not timed, it is designed to be completed in about 45 minutes, most students are done in about an hour. Students will have no more than 2 hours to complete this test.
These assessments give us critical information that can help us help your child. Please make every effort to have your child be in attendance on testing days unless they are ill.
Thanks for all your support.
Sincerely,
Zach Ernst
Director of School Improvement

Our Message About Bullying
National Bullying Awareness Month is coming up in October, and we'd like to take this opportunity to let you know what we are doing to create a safe and supportive school environment for all. Bullying is unacceptable and comments or conduct that disparages or demonstrates hostility or aversion should not be tolerated. By being accepting, kind and inclusive, you can help make the world a better place. Together we can create a world without bullying! To learn more about bullying prevention and policies here in District 220, click here. To see the letter in Spanish please click here.
Lost and Found
Lost and found items will be placed in the lost and found bin in the M wing. All items without names will be donated within a week. Please label, water bottles, shoes, jackets, anything of value with your student's name.
Bell To Bell No Cell
Digital Mobile Devices are not permitted in learning environments. Devices must remain powered down and out of sight during class time.
One of our top priorities is to minimize distractions in the classroom and help students learn to self-regulate their use of digital devices. Clear guidelines and consistent enforcement will support students in developing responsible digital habits.
Activity Buses
Activity busses are available Monday through Friday for students who stay after school for activities, clubs, and athletics. Students who leave the school grounds may not return to school to ride the activity bus.
The buses depart shortly after 5:00 P.M. Since there are only six activity buses, drop off points will not be the same as they are for regular routes.
Students who ride the activity bus should follow the same bus procedures and rules as they would on the regular bus. Misconduct while riding an activity bus may result in loss of activity bus privileges.
Media Center
Beginning in September, the Media Center will be open after school on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays until 5:00. This is a great place to work on homework, read a book, or complete group projects. A teacher is available if help is needed. Students who choose to stay in the Media Center on these days can ride the activity bus at 5:00 if needed.

Sign Out Procedures
If you plan to pick up your child up early from school, we ask that you please put in an Absence Request in the Parent Portal on Infinite Campus. When you arrive to pick up your child, please come to the front door with your cell phone. Ms. Jarva or Ms. Alters will buzz you in and you will scan a QR code (located on table near front door) that is linked to a sign-out form that you complete while you wait for your child to come down from class. Please note, only individuals listed on Infinite Campus (IC) will be allowed to pick up your child. If you need assistance with the parent portal, please contact the Infinite Campus Hotline at (847)-842 3580.
Thank you!
Visitor Procedures
In our district’s continued effort to keep our students and staff safe, remember to bring your driver’s license or state ID when you come to visit/volunteer at Station. The reason for this is we run your ID through our sex offender background check system. After your ID is scanned, you will be issued a visitor lanyard and visitor sticker before being admitted into the building. Every D220 school follows these procedures. For the safety of our students, there are no exceptions.
Quest Food Management System
We are very excited to partner with Quest this year to bring a great food program to our Pre-k through 8 schools! Please click here for more information.
