February Updates for Baker Elementary Families
Dear Families,
Thank you for your continued patience with weather-related closing and delays. As a reminder, February 17th (President's Day) we WILL have school as a makeup day for our closure on January 21st.
We have completed our Winter NWEA Testing. Students worked very hard and showed quite a bit of growth. Please make sure that your student is completing their math homework each evening. This spiral review is so important to keep the skills fresh for them.
Quarter three midterms were sent home today. Please reach out to your student's teacher with any questions that you may have. The end of the grading period is March 12th, with report cards going home on Friday, March 14th.
Students in second grade will take IREAD-3 this spring. While teachers have been preparing students, we would like to host some informational meetings for caregivers to answer any questions you may have. There will be both a morning and afternoon session on Thursday, February 27 at 8:45 AM and 3:15 PM in the Baker Foyer (more information will be sent separately, at a later date). Both meetings will be identical in content. In the meantime, you can find more information about IREAD-3 here.
As we count down the days until spring weather, please take a moment to read through some of the reminders below.
- Dress-Up Days: We’ve launched our annual Riley Children's Foundation fundraising campaign! Check out the graphic below for details on our dress-up days. While donations are optional, we’ve set a goal of raising $1,000 for this important cause. Thank you for your support!
- K-2 Valentine's Day Class Parties: These will be held on Friday, February 14, 2025 from 1:30-2:30 p.m.
- Full day and M/W/F morning PreK classes will have their Valentine's party on Friday, February 14, from 9:45-10:15 a.m. Ms. Pam's afternoon PreK class will have theirs on the same day from 1:45-2:15 p.m. The T/Th morning classes will have their party Thursday, February 13, from 9:45-10:15 a.m.
Warm regards,
Mrs. Geesy

Reminders from the Clinic...
As cold and flu season is upon us, we want to remind parents of the following health-related policies:
- Students must be fever-free for 24 hours without fever-reducing medication before returning to school.
- Cough drops and other OTC medications sent in to school MUST come in to the office and cannot be sent to school in a backpack for students to manage. Ideally, the office would receive a call or notification before such items are sent in.
- All absences, of any type, must be called in to the school. The state requires that we code absences, and accruing unexcused absences is not ideal.
