HAUTAPU SCHOOL PANUI

Week 8, Term 2
Acting Assistant Principal's Message
Kia ora whānau
It is hard to believe that we are nearly at the end of the term. The tamariki have been very busy with their learning throughout the term. We can not wait to share this with you next week at our Matariki celebration breakfast.
The Senior Team students had a fantastic day at the Cambridge Rural Schools Winter Sports Festival in Week 6. They took part in two traditional Māori games - Ki - o -rahi and Tapu ae - as well as handball, dodgeball and Danish rounders. It was fantastic to see our students embody our school values of Challenge and Courage as they worked with children from the different schools for the day. There were approximately 400 students from the 9 Rural Schools in attendance.
The weather was fantastic for our Junior Winter Sports afternoon in Week 7. It was awesome to see so many whānau come and watch the children show off the sporting skills that they have learnt over the term. Thanks to Mrs Hoebergen and the Junior team for your efforts with teaching our students the skills.
I took a group of students to the Tough Guy and Gal Challenge in Ngaruawahia yesterday. Again the weather was amazing, and the students enjoyed the mud and the sun. They were great ambassadors for our school, supporting each other and cheering them on. A lasting memory will be a large group of Year 5/6 boys crossing the line together, big smiles on their faces.
We are nearing the end of the refit of Kōwhai and Rimu Classes and they are looking stunning. We anticipate the move into those classes being in the next couple of weeks. Thank you to Ms Reilly and Mrs Hoebergen for operating your classes out of the Library and MPR and keeping your classroom programme running as smooth as possible.
We look forward to seeing you at the Matariki breakfast next Thursday if you are able to make it.
7.30 - 8.30 am - Light breakfast
8.30 am - 9.30 am - Whānau welcome to come to classes to see children’s learning.
