Music Clinicians visit our Music Department
Ms. Rebecca McLaughlin visited our Concert Band on October 3rd as well. She was representing the US Marine Corps President's Own Band. This is one of the top bands of the country, if not the world.
This was a great learning experience for our music students!
FFA UPDATES
- On October 2, 2017, students attended the Fall Leadership Conference at the Blair County Convention Center. The 5 Big Spring FFA Officers that attended learned more about their positions. The freshman that attended learned about leadership and FFA knowledge.
- On October 6, 2017, FFA attended the KILE Stockman's Contest at the Farm Show Complex. There were 27 Big Spring FFA students in attendance. The students had the opportunity to judge 5 classes of livestock, wool, and meat as well as take 7 other identification and knowledge quizzes. Overall, our FFA had teams place 21st and 29th out of 71 teams and they also earned 8th place in the category of Management. Individually, Emily Lindsay placed 5th, Cory Latchford placed 7th, and Taylor Donovan placed 10th all in the Livestock category.
- FFA also headed to Ohio from October 16 - 20 for Congress. The Horse Evaluation Team was given the opportunity to compete in the All American Quarter Horse Congress Judging Contest to prepare them for National Convention. Emily Lindsay, Allyson Shively, and Tucker Williams all attended.
- From October 24- 28, 2017, 21 FFA students will be traveling to Indianapolis, Indiana for National Convention. We have two student groups competing at National Convention. The Horse Evaluation Team made up of Makayla Hoch, Alexis Fearnbaugh, Tucker Williams, and Allyson Shively will be competing as well as the Ag Communications Team made up of Olivia Monismith, Taylor Donovan, Cory Latchford, and Becky Webster. The other students attending look forward to participating in the events.

On October 27, 2017 at the Bulldog Stadium from 4:30-8:15 donations will be collected to send to Cypress Springs. Donations will also be collected on October 28, 2017 at the Newville Dollar General parking lot from 10am-2pm.
