Superintendent's Update
June 6, 2025
Dear CCPS Families,
As we wrap up another incredible school year, I want to share some recent highlights and express my heartfelt gratitude for your continued support.
Last week, our high school graduation ceremonies were a tremendous success. It was a joy to celebrate the achievements of our seniors alongside their families, friends, and educators. Congratulations to the Class of 2025!
We also had an outstanding turnout for the free sports physicals held on Wednesday for middle and high school students. Thanks to the partnership with ChristianaCare Union Hospital, over 700 students were able to receive this important service. We are grateful for their support in helping our students stay healthy and active.
On Thursday evening, we hosted a special screening of a World War II film that was both educational and inspiring. The event featured Josie Perry, a National Board Certified social studies and history teacher at Rising Sun High School, and Katie Zimmer, a junior at Bohemia Manor High School. Both traveled with the National World War II Museum to Germany, Belgium, and France to film an electronic field trip exploring the war’s end and aftermath. Their insights and experiences brought history to life for our community.
Looking ahead, elementary award ceremonies will be taking place next week. Please check your child’s school newsletter for specific dates and times.
As we head into summer, I want to thank each of you for a fantastic school year. Your partnership, encouragement, and involvement make all the difference. I wish you and your family a safe, relaxing, and joyful summer break!
Sincerely,
Jeffrey A. Lawson, Ed.D.
