Increase Funds for NYC Libraries
Canvass or Table in Your Communities
Join us on September 29!
Are you interested in canvassing or tabling to support our NYC public libraries?
If yes, please join our NYC Public Library Advocacy & Organizing formation on September 29 from 2 to 4:15 pm at Brooklyn Heights Library.
Our grassroots and community-based group is launching a pro-active effort to demand that Mayor Eric Adams increase library funding during the mid-year budgeting process. It has become the norm for NYC Mayors to propose more cuts during this process. This time, we want to apply pressure during the month of October to demand an increase in library funding.
We are collecting signed letters from our fellow New Yorkers and urging them to contact the Mayor. We invite volunteers to canvas and/or table across NYC in October. Are you interested in taking action in this way?
On September 29, volunteers can stop by to pick up canvassing materials at 2 pm. For those who are inexperienced in canvassing, we are hosting a virtual workshop on October 2 from 6:30 to 8 pm ET.
Feel free to RSVP directly to jjinjustice1@gmail.com if you are interested in canvassing and/or tabling. Let us know if you can stop by on 9/29 and if you want to join the 10/2 virtual workshop.
If you cannot join us on 9/29 to pick up materials but would still like to canvas or table, let me know. We’ll try to find a way to get you the materials that you need to do this.
In peace and solidarity
