Our school will be offering Virtual Summer Camps for Summer 2020. We know that this time is difficult, and we want to make sure that we continue to provide an enriching and fun learning environment for everyone at our school and our community, even if we can't be with you face to face.
These virtual camps are also open to students from other schools.

GLOBE TROTTERS PASSPORT CAMP | JUNE 1 - 5

Embark on a virtual flight to a different country each day. Explore the culture that is predominant in each country visited. At each destination, discover art, music, food, holidays, traditions, mannerisms, and more! Gain virtual passport stamps along the way!
MINDFULNESS, MOVEMENT, & MEDITATION | JUNE 1-5

Mindfulness, Movement, and Meditation Camp will be focused on the development of the whole child through yoga! This camp will offer children a fun, empowering, educational, and creativity-boosting experience. Children will enjoy a nurturing, supportive, non-competitive atmosphere. We will stretch, strengthen, and energize our bodies and minds, learn to express ourselves creatively and compassionately, learn self-regulation techniques, develop friendships, and have loads of fun!
UNDER THE SEA S.T.E.A.M. CAMP | JUNE 8-12; RISING 2ND & 3RD, JUNE 15-19; RISING 4TH & 5TH
Time for STEAM Camp Under the Sea! Students will enjoy hands-on learning opportunities that focus on science, technology, engineering, art, and math. Students will dive into fun, engaging activities that are ocean-themed in order to create and learn more!

RISING MIDDLE SCHOOL SUMMER CAMPS
Virtual Fitness Camp | June 1 - 26

Description:
Students will participate in an online strength and conditioning class aimed towards building up cardio, lean muscle mass, and core strength. The class will follow an individualized exercise routine that can be modified for both beginners and athletes to allow for everyone to work up to their potential. This camp will allow for students to make the most of their summer by preparing themselves for a healthier and stronger lifestyle.

JAVA CODING CAMP | JUNE 15-26

Price: $ 200
Java is one of the most powerful and high-level programming languages in the world. The Java summer camp is suitable for beginner programmers. Students completing this summer camp will have the knowledge to create functional and useful Java programs. The Java summer camp will cover these topics:
Primitive types
Object-Oriented Programming (OOP), Classes, and Objects
Loops and conditionals
methods and writing classes
Arrays/ArrayLists
Inheritance and Polymorphism
Recursion and Sorting/Searching Algorithms
CREATIVE WRITING CAMP | JUNE 1-12
DATE: June 1 through – June 12
TIME: 9 am – 11 am
PRICE: $200
REQUIREMENTS:
Students will be expected to spend some time outside of class working on their pieces.
In order to join, students should submit 1) an approximately 500 word writing sample (academic or creative writing) and 2) a short letter of interest describing his/ her writing background, skills, and areas of interest. These should be send to Ms. Haley Crockett via hcrockett@fultonscienceacademy.org by Friday, May 22 at the latest.
Students who are admitted will be notified by email by Tuesday, May 26 at noon.
Classes will be offered Monday- Friday 9 AM-11 AM from June 1- June 12.

DESCRIPTION
Have a fantastical story you've been wanting to tell? Maybe a poem you've written but want to make even better? Join creative writing! In this class, we will learn the fundamentals of writing short stories, poetry, extended endings to existing stories, and other short writing exercises. Students will receive direct instruction and see strong examples of each form of writing. Then students will have time to work on their pieces and receive individualized feedback from the instructor as they write. Finally, all students will participate in workshopping by reading their pieces aloud and receiving helpful feedback from peers and the instructor. By the end of the course, students will have a small booklet of original works to share with family and friends.

DESCRIPTION: MATH
The SAT Math Camp is designed to prepare students for the math section of the SAT. Students will be trained on SAT Math concepts from pre-algebra, algebra, and geometry on top of exploring a systematic fashion of mastering techniques used on the SAT Math Exam. The SAT Math Camp is envisioned to equip students with a variety of questioning styles seen on the SAT in addition to cultivate & strengthen their problem solving skills along with their math skills.
Required Materials:

- · Small binder
- · Calculator (Scientific or preferably TI-84 Plus CE Graphing Calculator)
The SAT Verbal Camp is designed to help students prepare for the rigors of taking the SAT College Board test. We will identify and implement test taking strategies using prerequisite knowledge to increase student performance in the area of English Language
Arts. This includes reading comprehension, vocabulary, and writing skills.

Our facilitators will teach the key principles of the debate process, which include research and note taking, flowing, constructing rebuttals, and creating impachttp://www.tylacademy.org/index.php/home/summer-2020-schedule assessments. Students will also compete in mock debates and receive constructive feedback from experienced judges.
Public Speaking: Students will be introduced to and learn the concepts, ideas, and strategies
necessary for effective public speaking. Oratorical, extemporaneous and impromptu speaking will be explored while enhancing critical thinking, organization, critical listening, research, delivery, refutation, persuasion, argumentation, and conflict resolution skills. . Students will also compete in mock speech competitions and receive constructive feedback from experienced judges.
