Happy New Year to All!
I hope you all had a wonderful winter break and had a chance to spend time with friends and family. We're now in the stretch of the school year that is long and cold! Please be sure to read the information below about when students will go outside for recess. If you're in need of help to secure winter clothing please reach out to the main office or our Student Liaison, Mrs. Jordan.
Since winter break, we have seen an increase in the number of students who are wearing and using smart watches/tracking devices. While these tools can be very beneficial, we want to remind you that they should only be used as a watch during the school day. If a student is found to be calling home, recording others, taking photos etc. the watch will be taken and returned at the end of the day. The family will be contacted and asked to either leave the watch at home or keep it in their backpack. Thank you for understanding! As always, if you have questions, please feel free to give us a call in the office.
As we move into our second half of the school year it is essential that you continue reading with your child. We tend to see a large amount of student growth this time of year and that is in large part due to your efforts at home. Please keep it up!
This is also the time of year when we start making plans for next school year (crazy, I know!). If you have, or you know someone who will have, an incoming Young Five or Kindergarten student (must turn 5 on/before December 1st) we will be holding our Annual Y5/Kindergarten Information Night on Monday, February 24th at 6:00 pm. Please read the full flyer below for more information.
I hope your New Year is off to a great start! As always, if you have any questions, concerns or just want to share information please give us a call at 810-591-7910 or you can email me personally at tdale@gbcs.org
Sincerely,
Tia Dale
