PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
Hello FMS friends and families,
It was great seeing so many of you at our open house. It is always wonderful to see the building filled with families. I know attending such events can be logistically difficult for families, so I hope you found it worth the effort.
Did you know that missing 2 days of school per month puts your child at risk of being considered chronically absent? I mention this because regular attendance provides the essential building blocks for learning. Missing days can lead to gaps in the foundational skills: reading, writing, math. The kids also learn important social skills, like teamwork, communication and problem solving. Consistent attendance allows them to form deeper peer and adult relationships which are important for social and emotional development. Having said all this, ultimately it is just great when the kids are all here. They are a lot of fun, make us laugh, and challenge us to be better.
As a reminder, if your child is a drop off or pick up, it is important to not block the crosswalk. Blocking the crosswalk is unlawful and creates an unsafe situation for the kids and adults who are trying to walk. We really need your help to improve this safety concern. Please be vigilant about where you are stopping your vehicle while waiting in line.
I hope everyone can relax a bit this weekend. Already looking forward to seeing the kids on Monday!
