Athletic Shuttle Bus to LHS-Sign Up REQUIRED by NOON
Students are reminded that if they need to ride the Shuttle Bus to LHS after school, they MUST sign up on the google form found on the LaunchPad BEFORE noon each day*. Students are reminded about this every morning on the Bengal Broadcast.
*Starting on Tuesday, January 18th if a student does not sign up on the google form by noon, they will not be allowed to ride the shuttle bus that afternoon as the list must be compiled for Transportation prior to dismissal.
Second Semester Space Concerns: The shuttle bus reaches full capacity quickly during the spring semester. There is a possibility that even students who sign up by noon during the spring, may still be unable to ride the shuttle bus. The shuttle bus only runs one route, and once the bus is full, it cannot take any additional riders. Riders will be taken on a first come first serve basis determined by the time they sign up on the google form. If a student does not get a seat and must find alternate transportation, he/she will receive an email by 1pm so that they may call a parent.
Counseling Corner-For 8th grade Parents
Individual Graduation Plan (IGP) conferences are coming soon! Please be on the lookout for an email from one of our counselors next week giving your more information on your IGP meeting and sending you a link to sign up for your conference. These meetings will be held from the end of January until the end of March. We look forward to meeting with you and your students as we plan for their high school years.
BMS IB-Community Project Update
We are so excited that many students have created advocacy / awareness campaigns for their community project! We are setting up two showcase locations so that these students can post their flyers and QR codes in a way that honors the significance of their issues. These locations will be the cafe entrance area and the entrance to the Connections wing between the nurse's office and the workroom.
Students have until January 21 to complete their projects. Beginning January 24, students will begin preparing digital presentations that include artifacts from their project notebooks. Students will have three opportunities in their Individuals & Societies classes from January 24-February 17 to work on their presentations. Project supervisors will continue to check in with students during ATL to provide support as students complete their projects and presentations.
Opportunities to help others
LOCC Club will collect gently used shoes for Soles4Souls.
Soles4Souls makes unwanted shoes and clothing into opportunity by keeping them from going to waste and putting them to good use – providing relief, creating jobs, and empowering people to break the cycle of poverty.
We will be collecting shoes from December 15-January 28. Please tie them together and drop them in the donation box that will be located in the atrium by the stairs. Thank you in advance for your support!
