Greetings Bridgetown! It was a pleasure to speak with the families of my advisory students. Lets continue to work together to ensure your success in all of your classes. This week, in Math 7, students will complete Unit 1. Students will create a floor plan based on the activities in Lesson 13 which will be graded as a Summative D, and they will take the Math 7 RCT #1. Use the online text and family resource link (on Canvas) to help students review. In Math 6, students will identify different rates and make comparisons between rates. Students should complete their i-Ready lessons to become familiar with upcoming topics.
**All Class Slides & Notes will be available on Canvas under Modules**

Greetings Team Bridgetown! This week, we’ll be diving deeper into “Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry” as we prepare for our final summative of the term on Friday. We’ll be focusing on characterization and theme to enhance our understanding of the book.
A quick reminder: Students received reading homework on Canvas. Please ensure that they read the assigned pages (p.57-79) and complete the 5-question quiz on Canvas before returning to school on Tuesday. We will not be covering those pages in depth in class and will be picking up on page 80.
Also encourage your student to continue to work on their book projects at home. Let’s make this a productive week!
*Please note that all class notes and worksheets are on the Canvas page.*
Science - Ms. Banson
Hi Team Bridgetown!
Thank you so much for a great short week. I loved seeing you all have fun with Milky Way Bars as we learned about Plate Tectonics, and I’m proud of all of your roots studying. Next week we will be taking our Advisory 1 Roots Summative on Tues, 10/15. Blookets have been posted on Canvas under modules, and I highly recommend that students study these as much as possible. Students have access to the Roots Term 1 Study Guide due Tues 10/15. After the Roots Summative, students will be taking their Amplify Critical Juncture assessment (ungraded) on Wednesday to track their learning through the Plate Motion unit. Lastly, students will be learning about how structural engineers build things in earthquake-prone zones, leading into a fun lab – The Great Shakeout! We will be needing donations of toothpicks and mini marshmallows, as students will be building structures and seeing if they survive an “earthquake.”
World Geography & Cultures - Martini
This weekend begins our weekly Current Events Analysis (CEA) homework assignments. The assignment is called CEA and can be submitted each week on Canvas-Modules or on paper using the form provided in class.
Each week, students will need to answer questions summarizing one news article. Some weeks the article will be assigned by me and posted to Canvas, on other weeks students will be free to choose an article. Please provide any news sources you deem appropriate and/or may have subscriptions or access to at home. Additionally, links to “News for Kids” sources are provided on Canvas-Modules.
Due to the long weekend, CEA #1 is due on Tuesday, 10/15. After that, CEAs will be due every Friday.
Deal Library Corner
The library orientations have completed for all students! Most students have now checked out at least one book from the library! 6th grade students should be almost ready to return their books if they haven't already. Notices will go out next week for 6th students who have overdue materials and over the following two weeks for 7th and 8th graders.
Students are able to see their current loans by accessing their library accounts through the Clever app called "Destiny Discover". They can follow the process below to see items that they have checked out:
Log into Clever (clever.com/in/dcpsk12)
Search "Destiny Discover" or navigate to the Library Resources section and click on the icon.
Click on the "My Stuff" link at the top of the screen to see any items that are checked out.
Students who have lost materials or see items that may be linked to their account by mistake should speak with Mr. Reichlen.
There are no fines or penalties for lost materials. Donations of hard cover titles of middle school-age-appropriate works in good condition are always accepted if families are able to replace lost materials.
When to visit:
Library Hours 8:15am-3:45pm daily.
•With permission from grade level admin – Students can come from 8:15 – 8:35am
(Mr. Reichlen must be present).
•Recess visits – You must get a pass from Mr. Reichlen or Ms. Gathers.
