SkillsUSA State Competitions
Students from various technical schools throughout Pennsylvania, including Middle Bucks Institute of Technology (MBIT), competed in the 2023 SkillsUSA State Competitions held in Hershey, Pennsylvania. MBIT had 26 competitors participating who earned a total of 15 medals: 3 gold medal winners, 7 silver medal winners and 5 bronze medal winners.
The gold medal winners will advance to the National SkillsUSA Leadership and Skills Conference in Atlanta, Georgia in June 2023.
SkillsUSA is the national organization for students in trade, industrial, and technical education. It sponsors the SkillsUSA Championships annually to recognize the achievements of career and technical students, and to encourage them to strive for excellence and pride in their chosen occupations. The contests are planned by technical committees comprised of representatives of labor and management and are designed to test the skills needed for successful entry-level performance in given occupational fields. In addition to competitions focusing on technical skills, students have the opportunity to demonstrate their leadership abilities. Leadership development contests include areas concentrating on public speaking, job interview, business procedure, and professionalism.
PECO Infrastructure Academy Visit
MBIT students from the Electrical, Welding, Building Trades, Engineering, and Drafting Programs were invited to the first high school-level PECO Infrastructure Academy.
MBIT was so impressed by the variety of opportunities available and learned a great deal about them in such a short time period. From the different testing, maintenance and energy technician positions to the customer service consultant pathway, PECO offers phenomenal training and growth opportunity. The power sources and ways in which PECO AND Exelon deliver and maintain services were an eye opener.
Students learned how the ability to grow and move throughout the company is a true benefit. We look forward to developing a pipeline of talent and to participating in future academies.

Philanthropy Today students visit local farm
Philanthropy Club students were out on a farm, taking photos of the most adorable animals to create artwork for the next Victim Waiting Room. We believe that every little detail counts, and we want to create a welcoming and soothing space for those who have suffered from trauma. Thank you to the farmers who have allowed us to spend time with their animals, and to our talented students who are turning these photos into beautiful pieces of art.
