EAGLE TRACT
CORNERSTONE INTERNATIONAL ACADEMY
MESSAGE FROM THE ACTING HEAD OF SCHOOL
Dear Eagle Family,
I welcome you to March, dubbed ‘Heritage Month’ for our school community.
We have selected ‘Courageous’ as the Learner Profile attribute we hope to exhibit throughout this month.
Courage is not the absence of fear, but rather the ability to face it, step out of your comfort zone, and take bold steps towards your goals.
For our students, this may mean trying a new extracurricular activity, speaking up in class, or pursuing a passion that they have been hesitant to explore. We urge you to be courageous in your pursuits, for it is through courage that we grow and learn the most.
We kindly ask all parents for your continued support in fostering a culture of courage among our students. Encourage them to take risks, to learn from their failures, and to persevere in the face of challenges.
Your involvement in your child's education is invaluable as experts usually opine that when parents are actively engaged in their children’s education, they are more likely to succeed.
Let us work together as a school community to instill courage in our students, to empower them to be the best versions of themselves, and to create a future filled with endless possibilities.
Thank you for your continued collaboration.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Gifty Agbeshie
Ag.Head of School

HAPPENINGS IN C.I.A.
UPDATE ON READING QUEST
The maiden edition of our reading quest has been a wonderful journey filled with fun activities such as reading and word drill, reading station set ups, story writing etc. In the grand finale, students immersed themselves in emotional and character-filled readings. They engaged with excerpts from the books shared on ManageBac and engaged in a fun guessing game to identify the names of these characters.
FIELD TRIP
Unit 3 for MYP 2 was centered on Media and Mass Communication. Students learnt about the types of media and mass communication as well as the parts of a newspaper article.
A field trip to the Graphic Communications Group was organized for the students to reinforce what was learnt in class. They learnt about the newspapers and what goes into the production .
Students were also told about the brands of newspaper that the company produces. The Junior Graphic was one of the favorite brands the students could identify with. In addition, they examined the type of paper and the process involved in making newspapers.
INTERNATIONAL MOTHER LANGUAGE CELEBRATION
This special day is recognized worldwide and celebrated on February 21. It offers an opportunity to honor the linguistic diversity within our school community. To commemorate this occasion, students represented their mother language in diverse ways through poems, songs and languages spoken.
UNIT PREVIEW WITH PARENTS (UPP)
The Unit Preview with Parents in the Middle school was exciting and engaging. It was organized to help parents have a sneak-peak into the new unit, Unit 4. In addition, parents were introduced to the concept of Interdisciplinary Unit (IDU).
We hope to see more parents patronize the UPP in subsequent units.
PYP AND MYP SHARING
The PYP and MYP sharing is one of the avenue C.I.A. uses to engage parents in their child's education. The purpose of the sharing was to educate and engage parents on some important aspects of the IB program. The recent meeting with parents discussed the Approaches to Learning (skills) which is one essential aspect of the curriculum and how parents can collaborate with the school community to emphasize its role in the IB.
