What's coming and going here in the IB Office
Here’s what has happened since school started and what’s to come!
The school year has started and our IB Diploma classes are well under way!
I am happy to say that I have met with all the twelfth graders and ~95% of the juniors, already. They are in great shape with their academic plans for coursework to complete their IB Diplomas!
This month and into the start of October our seniors are turning in their Extended Essays and having their Viva Voces, their oral discussion with their EE mentors to reflect on the research and writing process.
Next week is the evening meeting for parents and caregivers of our IB Diploma students. Please join this virtual meeting on Tuesday, September 24, 7-8 pm.
In October we will have the inaugural field trip to a college fair targeted for IB Students!
Meeting for Parents & Caregivers of IB Diploma Program Students
This coming Tuesday, September 24, from 7-8 we will hold our informational meeting for the caregivers of our IB Diploma program students. This meeting will review the scope of the year, program requirements, and what to expect from the program and your students.
This is a ZOOM meeting. You will need to register to attend and the meeting will be recorded and posted on the IB DP Canvas page.

IB College Fair Field Trip
Join Ms. Day and other IB students to attend a college fair field trip that is catered directly for IB Students! This is the twelfth year that the local association of IB Schools is running a college fair at Gar-Field High School in northern Virginia. This is a free event.
We will be running a free bus from BCC to the event, you just need to complete a field trip form in advance. Space on the bus is limited. All students may attend the college fair. If you do not ride the field trip bus you may attend the fair you will just need to provide your own transportation.
The field trip is from 11:15 am - 4:15 pm on Saturday, October 19. Pick up field trip forms in the IB Office. There are about 30 spaces on the bus.

Words from a 2024 IB Grad
“I would not have been able to succeed in college without IB. It truly gave me a world class education that taught me how to think critically and reflect on the world around me. Its emphasis on interconnection, global thinking, and language has provided me with lifelong learning skills. I feel like I can reference a multitude of different thinkers, authors and topics at all times. Also, the teachers are truly phenomenal. It was one of the best decisions I made!”
