If you and your child(ren) wait for a PM TK or K student to be dismissed, please make sure kids are following school rules (walking on sidewalks, not standing on benches/raised surfaces, using a quiet voice) until students are dismissed. We want to make sure students and teachers are not being distracted during this 1st-5th grade after school time. Thank you for your help with this!

We are looking for a parent volunteer or small team of parent volunteers to fill Positive Action Ticket orders every other week. The students are loving this new incentive program but we need help to continue running the program this way. It is helpful to have a consistent volunteer or group of volunteers for this so they know the routine. Please email Amy Pirkl at apirkl@buckeyeusd.org if you are interested in helping with this on Monday or Tuesday every other week.

Sometimes parents will want a list of a staff members favorite things to celebrate a birthday or show appreciation. We have a binder in the office with a list for each staff member who has completed one. Stop by anytime if you would like a copy of a staff members favorites.

This year all of the "first day packet" information will be collected through Alma, our new student information system. This process has been made available to parents now and we ask that parents complete this task as soon as possible so we have current information. Please review these Slides for a tutorial on how to log in and complete the required information in Alma.

• ✔️ Attendance - Help your student build positive attendance routines by ensuring they attend school every day they possibly can and arrive on time. When students are tardy, they miss learning time and cause a disruption when entering the classroom.

1. What is considered an Excused Absence?
By law [EC § 48205], excused absences are: illness [(fever 100° or more, persistent runny nose (not allergy related), vomiting, diarrhea, medical/dental appointments (doctor’s note required for verification)], death in the family, specific religious reasons, required appearance in court, and exclusion from school for contagious disease.

2. What can I do if my child needs to be out of school for a length of time?

If your child must go out of town for three (3) or more days, you may request that your child is signed up for an Independent Study Contract. Please note that teachers need at least one week’s notice in order to prepare materials without interrupting their instructional time.

3. I called in to verify my child's absence; why am I still getting truancy letters?

Unless the absence was for an excused reason (those stated in point #1), the absence is considered unexcused and truancy letters will be sent in accordance with Education Code of the State of California [EC § 48260-48273]. Ed Code states that any pupil who is absent from school for 3 days or more without a valid excuse (reasons specified in point #1), or tardy in excess of 30 minutes or more, is considered truant.
