Mrs. Geurin’s Classes

Math

Sixth grade will be focusing on fluency with multi-digit decimal operations as we move forward. They will be adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing multi-digit decimals.

They will then move into a module on understanding addition and subtraction of rational numbers including adding and subtracting both positive and negative numbers and conclude the unit learning about fluency with rational number operations.

Science

Sixth will be concluding their topic on solids, liquids, and gases. They will then move into their new topic 3 on energy. They will be learning about energy of motion, force and work, kinetic energy, and other forms of energy. They will discuss energy change in conservation before moving into topic 4 on thermal energy. They will learn about thermal heat and temperature, heat transfer and heat, and materials and then review before moving into topic 5 on earth systems

Mrs. Bradley’s Class

Social Studies

We will pose and answer questions about geographic distributions and patterns for various world regions and countries shown on maps, graphs, and charts. We will also compare various world regions and countries using data from maps, graphs, and charts; and identify the location of major world countries for each of the world regions.

Mrs.Elkin’s Class

Literature and Composition

We are reading the novel , "A Long Walk to Water". The students will be learning grade- appropriate Greek or Latin affixes and roots. We will also be studying Synonyms and Antonyms.
